Twentieth Century America was a time of incredible innovation. The biggest and most impacting in my opinion being first radio and then later television. And the RCA Victor company was a very large part of it all.
Still standing in the City of Camden, New Jersey is what used to be RCA's building 17. Just one of many buildings that made up a very large complex the size of a small city. It is also known as "The Nipper Building". Nipper is the iconic dog in RCA's logo. Today it is a luxury waterfront apartment building. Here it is in today's photo of the day.
If you look at the top of the building you can see two stained glass windows featuring The RCA Victor logo known as "His Master's Voice". There are four windows in total. Here is a closer look.
Here are some links that you may find interesting. They can tell you a lot more about the history of this building and of the RCA companies contributions to the history of broadcasting than I can cover here.

Wow! I didn't know that building was still standing. Great shot of the windows.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! It's still there and it's beautifully restored. I might go into the lobby area next time I am over there. It has some retail shops and restaurants from what I can tell.
DeleteLove those windows! I have always LOVED Nipper!
ReplyDeleteJust imagine how big they are. You can see them fairly clearly from the ground.
