Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For today's Summertime Weekend Edition I am sharing tonight's campfire. We were debating on whether or not to have one due to the heat and high humidity but went ahead anyway. I guess it just wouldn't be the same without one.

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today is my first "Summertime Weekend Edition" so let's see how this goes.

I shot this in our garden this afternoon before we left for the campground after giving our plants a good watering. Not sure what this is called but it sure seems to be doing well. And best of all the occasional deer we see don't eat it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Welcome to The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback takes us back to June 27, 2016. I shot this at the Upper Schuylkill Valley Park in Royersford Pennsylvania. I would love to take the time to visit again but perhaps when it's a little cooler.

A quick note before I go. I am once again modifying my Summertime weekend posts. For the next several weeks I will be posting daily as usual but on weekends I will be doing mobile posts. These are generally shorter but are less "generic" than writing up something and having it auto post. I at least want to give it a try.

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Wednesday View - 27 June 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is a quick snapshot I made this afternoon in our garden. Our hosta continues to grow and thrive and now the buds that I shared about a week ago have started to bloom. This really brings back some good memories of growing up with the very same plant and I truly could not be happier with it. Once it gets a bit larger I may even take part of it and plant it in another part of our yard. The more the merrier as they say.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today we take a look at last week at the Cafe. We had a wide variety of birds that day but then again we usually do. And we might even get some new ones after some improvements and updates that I am working on are complete. But that's for another post. Here is today's view.

I shot this candidly and handheld from quite a distance. A tripod would have been great but I didn't want to miss the scene.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I often say that small things make the biggest subject. And yesterday while I was concentrating on a "small thing" I saw something smaller. Well sort of. The spider in this photo is quite small but I have to say that it's web was pretty big. And after I shot a few frames I did my best not to disturb it. After all this spider was just doing it's job.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today was a rather late and busy travel day for Me and Kim. We left a little later than usual to go home from our weekend at the shore so of course we got home later. Add in some torrential rain and getting ready for the work week and here we are at just after 9 PM. So today's post is going to be a quick snapshot I made yesterday while we were out playing a round of miniature golf.

Anyone know what kind of bug this is? I think I've seen a similar one before but with different colors. If you could identify it I would really appreciate it.

Periodically during our weekend travels this Summer I will post a mobile picture here at the blog. To kick off this little "project" I would like to share this with you. This is pretty easy but can you guess what it is?

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

A quick note before I share today's view.

For the Summer months my Friday and Saturday posts may be a little abbreviated. We travel a lot on the weekends and with a long work week thrown in things get a bit busy. With that said, on to today's photo.

This is our new rhododendron which happens to be next to our hosta.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

What better way to start off Summer than taking a look back at a warm day in the pool? Sure, the pool isn't big but it was refreshing. Though I don't think Schnitzel was too thrilled. He isn't really fond of water so after this test run we didn't make him try it again. Click Here to see my original post from June 21, 2015.

Wednesday View - 20 June 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today I would like to shift from the shore points of New Jersey and focus on something a little more local. And by local I mean our own backyard which is better known as the Cafe. Believe it or not we have done a good amount of work in the yard even though we travel a lot more nowadays. We have put in several new plants and even installed a new bird bath. But the crown jewel of them all is our hosta. And it really is something special. This particular hosta can be traced back to the yard of my Great Grandparents in Northeast Philadelphia. I don't know exactly how old it is and don't know all of the details of how the original plant was separated and part of it ended up at the house I grew up in. But I do know that when we sold that house my Sister Elaine took part of it and planted it at her house. Fast forward a few more years and that portion ended up at our present house and in the Cafe. I planted it last Summer and it did pretty good but this Spring it took off very well. And for that I am very pleased. And I will certainly do my best to protect and even spread it out even more.

For today's view I would like to share our hosta with you.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Sometimes the littlest subjects make the biggest subjects. Or something like that but I think you know what I'm saying.

When out shooting I record a good variety of what nature has to offer. Landscapes are obviously a big one and of course squirrels and birds. People? Not so much. And when I do they are either family or close friends and those pictures tend to be candid. But aside from all of that I also like to focus on the little things. You would be amazed at how much photographic material I can find in just a few small feet of space. It's not always easy but usually very much worth it. Take today's image as an example. I saw this dragon fly (I think it's a dragon fly) while out walking with Kim and Terry and did my best to capture it to share here. This is the only good shot out of about 10 or so.

I should have set my camera to Shutter Priority but I shot this on the spur of the moment. Still not too shabby though.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Well it seems that this is getting out to you a little later than I wanted it to so let's get to it.

Kim and I finally had a sunny weekend at the shore! There was barely a cloud in the sky and the Sun was shining nice and bright. And it was a lot warmer too. In light of this nice weather situation I thought I would take a another trip to The South Cape May Meadows Reserve and see what it was like without gray rain clouds. It was awesome! I was able to re-do some of last weeks photos and of course compose some new ones. And for today's view I would like to share this new one with you.

I recently found an app that is supposed to help identify flowers simply by snapping a picture with a smart phone. I have tried it a couple times and it seems to be pretty good. Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily view

Okay, all week I've been sharing photos from a bird Sanctuary but none with birds. So to set that right here is a bird. A large bird. Actually a VERY large bird. You might not be able to tell from this picture but this guy is bigger than the average goose. In fact we saw a few like him. Maybe it's the water? Or perhaps the safety of the sanctuary?

Today's view presents one of the smaller inhabitants of the bird sanctuary we visited on Sunday. And though this guy (girl?) may be small in size his kind is very large in number. We literally saw dozens of them. I don't know how big they will grow to be but at any size they are really cool to watch. And listen to too.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Yesterday was the first time in quite a while that I was able to really get out and shoot for any amount of time. And most of this time was spent at my new find, the Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Cape May. But as I mentioned in yesterday's post there is so much more than just birds to enjoy. In fact most of my photos don't even have a bird. I shot many frames worth of wildflowers and plant life in general. Shots like today's view.

It would surely be very easy to pass this by as a "weed". But I saw (and see) something here that I wanted to share. I don't know what it is but I hope you enjoy it. By the way, does anyone know the name of this flower? I am embarrassed to say that I see them all the time but have no idea what they are called.

But there is some good stuff on this list and I will try to see all of them. So stay tuned and in the mean time Click Here to check out the article.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Kim and I are back from another rainy weekend at the Jersey Shore and wondering if we'll ever see a sunny one. Oh it didn't rain the whole time we were there but we got more than our share.

This morning we took a drive to Cape May and then headed toward Cape May Point. On our way there however we found a new to us cool place that I will be visiting again very soon. The South Cape May Meadows Preserve. The Meadows Preserve serves as a migratory bird sanctuary and is a birders paradise. But there is much more than just birds. Nature and wildlife of all kinds live there and as if that isn't enough the main trail leads up to the ocean and offers great views including today's view right here.
