Monday View - 30 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I spent some time outside today after work and of course my camera was nearby. For the first time that I know of the young squirrels came down out of their tree and were looking for food along with what I believe to be their mother. There is a mature female and at least three young. naturally I offered them some peanuts and they took them. Not a hand feeding but I was quite close to them. I grabbed some photos too but I still need to go over them. I am however sharing a cool shot of the the (probably) mother. Sometimes I really believe she poses for the camera.

Sunday View - 29 April 2018 Edition

Welcome to The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's photo is four things.  Quick because we are going out soon, black and white for various reasons, beautiful and at the same time dangerous.

This hawk was hanging out in one of our trees while it stalked birds on the ground. Just on the other side of the tree was one of the young squirrels. The squirrel was staying perfectly still so I guess he knew the hawk was there. Also of note is the fact that there was about a half dozen bluejays that actually taunted the hawk until he left. If you read up on bluejays you will learn that they aren't particularly scared of hawks.

Saturday View - 28 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

We get a lot of squirrels here at the Cafe but now we are seeing even more. Three more as far as I can tell. I have spotted three young ones. I think they are the offspring of one of the females I have been feeding. She has become rather comfortable around me and I hope here young do too. I have been trying to get some pictures of them for a little while but it's tough because they never sit still. But I was finally able to get a few okay shots and today I would like to share this one with you. In black and white.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For today's view I would like to share a couple snapshots that I made this morning before work. The first was shot in our back yard and the second at the end of our street.

Throwback Thursday View - 26 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback is from April 26, 2015 and was shot at the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville Pennsylvania. Located within a game preserve the Lehigh Valley Zoo is small but well worth the visit. It's also an easy drive and not too far off of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Welcome to The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is a snapshot from yesterday morning before I went to work. Of course it was before sunrise but there is some daylight. The days are getting longer and the temperatures are finally staying on the warmer side. Yet more signs of Spring.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

While tidying up our yard and the Cafe over the past couple of weeks I have been doing some fine tuning of sorts. I have moved some of our feeders and am even making a flower garden. But moving the feeders hasn't stopped our regulars from stopping by for a bite to eat. In fact I think we are getting more visitors. And a really nice thing is that I have a better view for my camera. I can even shoot from inside using my remote. That's how I made today's view.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Dare I say Spring has arrived? It's really starting to warm up around here. At least during the day. The nights are still chilly but not as cold as they were just a week ago. And flowers are popping up everywhere. Even on our lawn.

Contrary to popular belief dandelions are flowers. Maybe not the most welcome of flowers but flowers none the less. And they are very plentiful this year. There is a sea of yellow on our front lawn but as I've said before I really don't mind. And besides when I mow they will be gone for a time. That's where today's view comes in. This is the only dandelion seed head I have seen so far but I'm sure it will do it's job and re-seed.

Whether or not Spring is finally upon us makes no difference to our garden. Particularly our tulips. They are open and ready for business. At least some of them. And they are the subject of today's view.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is another late one and it's also another snapshot. Two snapshots actually.

Kim and I had a busy day getting our camp site set up. We rented a seasonal site in Cape May Courthouse that is just four miles away from the beach and will probably spend most of our weekends there this Summer. But there is work to do first. And today's work was cleaning the site and our camper. It was a long day but was worth it. So for today's view I would like to show you what we have done so far.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily view

Today's view is a quick snapshot that I made this afternoon. This is a view of the Cafe (well part of it) after I spent some time cleaning up after a long Winter that I'm not quite sure is over yet. There's still much to do but it is a lot better. Now if the grass would turn to full green it would be nice.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For a quick Wednesday View I share with you this squirrel I often see at the Cafe. She is one of many regulars we see and has become quite tame around me. Around others though, not so much. And that's probably for the best.

Tuesday View - 17 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Something that I can say without a doubt is that I have never seen so many Bluejays in one place as I have seen over the last year at our house. Growing up I would see a couple here and there and when I moved just a couple miles away I saw none at all. For more than ten years there was not a single one in sight. Then we moved here a little more than a year ago and we have dozens. Literally dozens at a time. This afternoon I saw six or seven right outside our front door. But for the abundance of Bluejays I rarely get a good shot of one. They tend to swoop down and grab whatever there is to eat and take off just as quickly. Their favorite seems to be peanuts. So I have been experimenting by placing large amounts of them in one spot so I get repeat feeding and stand by with my camera to see what I can get. And it has finally paid off. I got some pretty good stuff and of course I am sharing one with you for today's view. To me this is a little soft but that's because I shot it through glass. And that was because it started to drizzle and I didn't want to get my camera wet.

Monday View - 16 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view takes a step away from our garden and flowers and the wildlife that goes with it and takes a look at one of our more domestic friends. For those of you who have never seen or met him this is Schnitzel, our miniature schnauzer.

I made this photo on Saturday. When it was Summer. Now it's Sprinter. You know, it's really Spring but feels like Winter. Schnitzel hates having his picture taken and gave me a hard time when I was shooting this one. He purposely looks away.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It really is Spring, right?

Yesterday temperatures here made it to around 89° F (32° C). Today? About 40° F (4° C). So starting on Friday we basically went from Spring to Summer to Winter. And if this confuses us how about our wildlife?

Today's view, or in this case views, are meant to give us hope that Spring and then Summer will soon be here. I take these to be and present them to you as "signs of Spring".
