Saturday View - 31 August 2019 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

This morning Kim and I joined some friends from the campground and went on a dolphin and whale watching tour out of Cape May New Jersey. It was a two hour tour that we have been on a few times and as always it was a lot of fun. We saw lots of dolphins but no whales. But there was still lots to see. And for today's view I would like to share this shot I made of the boats wake. I have a video too but I'll share that in an upcoming post.

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's time once again for a Friday Schnitzel picture. And since it's a holiday weekend and we got to the camper yesterday I am sharing two shots with you. That's twice the Schnitzel! In the first shot he is in the screen room watching someone walk by our site and in the second he is in the camper playing with his new toy.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today instead of a regular throwback post I decided to share a snapshot I made this afternoon. I shot this through our front door so I wouldn't disturb this squirrel that was taking a drink from the bowl of water that I put out every day.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's late my friends and I need to get things done for our week at the shore coming up. So this is going to be a quick one. And what better for a quick view than a squirrel? I shot this picture yesterday after I was finished shooting at the bird feeder.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I spent a little time in the Cafe again this afternoon and I think I got some good shots. A couple at least. And of course I am sharing one with you for today's view. This is the new feeder and like I said before it seems to be a big hit. It's the first one to empty each day. I can foresee many shots being made there. Stay tuned!

I also want to share one of the videos I shot last week when we were on the Full Moon Walk in Cape May County. Please keep in mind that this was made in pitch dark conditions with a cell phone camera. Considering that I don't think it's too bad.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today I would like to share a couple shots I made this afternoon in the Cafe. We seemed to have a lot of birds today. A lot more than this and a lot more than usual. I think it's the new feeder I installed Friday.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is a snapshot I made when we got home from the shore this afternoon. It's not the best shot I've made but it's the best I could do before he took off. I guess the squirrels have figured out a way to get peanuts from the feeder I set up for the birds.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is a snapshot from our dinner tonight. Not the actual dinner but the scenery that went along with it. This is from The Boathouse Restaurant in Wildwood New Jersey. It's similar to a previous post but from a different part of the deck.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's Friday Schnitzel picture time so let's get right to it. As usual today's view was shot when we got to the camper at the shore. He had his dinner already but was looking for a treat. On my chair of course.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Sometimes I go out and look for something to shoot. Actually more often than not. But every once in a while something to shoot comes to me. And that's what happened with today's view. This is in our front yard and I can't believe how close I was able to get. Keep in mind that I shot this with my phone. There is a video to go along with this but I'll share it another day.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today I would like to share a couple snapshots I made while we were on the Full Moon Walk the other night in Cape May County in New Jersey. Here we see two very different crabs. The first a Horseshoe Crab that unfortunately was very dead and the second is one of literally thousands of "regular" crabs that spanned along the entire shoreline. This crab was very much alive and very quick I might add. I think the only reason I was able to grab a picture is because the light from my camera spooked him.

I have some video I will share in an upcoming post.

Five Years!

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Five years. Five years ago I made a commitment to post a photo every day. And that's just what I've done. Well, at least I hope I did because I am typing this six days before my fifth "anniversary". But if all went well I have :)  Now I realize that not all of my offerings have been very artistic, though a lot of them have been. Photography is more than just art. I have always said it's about recording moments in time. That's why I firmly believe snapshot photography is of the utmost importance. And snobbery has no place in photography. But that's a subject for another time. Right now let me share a few statistics with you.

- My first post was on Sunday April 13, 2014 (About 4 months before I announced a daily photo)
- As of today I have published 1,854 posts (Click Here To See My Very First)
- As of today (August 13, 2019) I have had 130,600 views
- I have only used two DSLRs and three cell phones for my daily views (Except for my camera reviews)
- Those two DSLRs are Canons, of course ;)
- I'm truly not a camera snob though
- A couple of these aren't statistics but hey, it's my blog

Okay, now for some views from over the years. I am sharing one image from each year I have published my blog. There is a link to the particular post under each image. Enjoy.

March 17, 2018

July 19, 2019 (One Of Many Friday Schnitzel Pictures)

And there you go. I tried to pick my most popular (and favorite) subjects. But there is so much more. If you like take a look at the keywords on the right side of each post and click on any subject that interests you. There's a lot there.

Now, some things have changed over the years, hopefully for the better. But some things remain the same. One being my dedication to sharing something with you every day. Whether you like it or not, lol :) So stay tuned and check back when you can. Mostly though, Thank You for taking a small part of your day to look at my pictures and read my ramblings.

And before I go I would like to say one more thing. Please keep shooting! Make those snapshots and share them. Hopefully you'll be able to look back at some good memories one day. And you might even make somebody's day.

Sunday View - 18 August 2019 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Last night Kim and I attended a night walk at the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge with the intent of shooting the (almost) full Moon. It's called the Full Moon Walk and it's an event they hold periodically throughout the year. And it would have been perfect. We were right at the shore of the Atlantic and there was very little light pollution out over the water. We even saw a lot of stars in the sky. Much more than at home just twenty miles from Philadelphia. The was one problem though. There was a thick haze on the horizon that made the Moon virtually impossible to see. I waited for a bit but knew it would be a wash. So we headed back to the Nature Center and packed up my camera gear. We went inside to freshen up and when we came out I looked up and saw a beautiful view. The Moon decided to make an appearance. It was behind some clouds but I think it made for a nice composition. Especially with it's red hue. So I shot several frames and decided this was the one I wanted to share here with you. What do you think?

This was our first time in joining the Full Moon Walk but I think we'll be going again. Maybe the weather will be nicer and we'll get some clearer views. Stay tuned.

Throwback Thursday View - 15 August 2019 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback is from August 15, 2015 in Ocean City Maryland. And the subject is one of my favorites. The sunrise. It's been a while since I did a sunrise over the ocean and considering I am at the shore every weekend that really shouldn't be. Maybe I'll do one soon. Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Before this afternoon's rain, oh we got rain, I was able to spend some time in the Cafe with my camera in hand. My hope was to grab a few shots at one of the bird feeders but as it turned out that didn't happen. My remote's batteries were depleted and I had to stay with the camera and thus was unable to hide from the birds as they ate. But I was able to grab a few frames of some birds on an overhead power line. After looking over these pictures I thought they just needed something and that something was nothing. No color that is. So I converted one to black and white, did a few adjustments and here we have today's view.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is one of our resident squirrels. This guy was waiting for me when I got home looking for peanuts. I guess they are trained. They either know my car or they know how to tell time.

I would also like to share this video from our video door bell. We often see deer and we often see foxes but not usually at the same time. This was between 4am and 5am.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I was going through some of my recent shots today and came across one I meant to share but forgot to. About a week or so I shared a Black Eyed Susan. I really liked it a lot but it came off a little, sad I suppose. It was starting to wilt a bit and lose it's petals. Today however I am sharing a more cheerful version. This one looks fresher and newer and isn't a reminder that Summer is flying by way too fast.

Tuesday View - 6 August 2019 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For today's view I am sharing one of our standing squirrels. It seems as if they are actually posing when they do this because when this girl stood up she stayed still long enough for me to shoot a few photos. I have seen others do this too. No matter why they do it though because it gives me a good subject.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I was home from work today because we were getting some work done. As such I had time to catch up on yard work and even had a little time to spend in the Cafe. But it was one those days that I couldn't seem to get a good shot. However I did manage to get a couple good ones and for today's view I would like to share this with you. It was shot from the hip and of course handheld but I like it.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's been many weeks now and what I call our resident spider behind our camper is still there. But as long as he doesn't bother me, I won't bother him. Only thing is I need to be careful when we arrive on Friday nights because he is right above our water supply valve and it's usually dark.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback takes us to August 1, 2015 at the original Cafe. This is a rare shot of a cardinal. Rare for me at least. I almost never saw them there and although I see a lot of them here at the new Cafe I still don't seem to get many good shots. Click Here to see my original post.
