Welcome to The Sunday View

Happy New Year Eve my friends! Can you believe another year is about to draw to a close? It seems that the older I get the faster time flies by.

It sure is cold here today. Right now at just after 7 PM it is 10° F (-12° C). And I can only imagine it will get even colder. I suppose we are paying for the last two years when we had Spring like weather most of the Winter.

Last night Kim and I made our way out to Longwood Gardens to see "A Longwood Christmas". And even though it was quite bitter out I really enjoyed seeing it with snow on the ground. It really made it feel like Christmas. Of course I shot lots of photos. All of them snapshots. And today I would like to share a handful of them with you.

And here is another video from the Cafe. It's the same view as yesterday's but with less snow and a much better view of our local wildlife (AKA Cafe guests). This is part 1. I will be sharing more with each post for the next few days.

And that will do it for today. And this year for that matter. I thank you all for your support and viewership. Each day I see more and more people visiting my blog and I truly appreciate it.

Thanks for stopping by and see you in the new year.

Until next time...

Welcome To The Saturday View

We got a little snow today my friends. Not too much but enough to do some light shoveling. Or in my case clearing the walkway with a leaf blower. It was very powdery and easy to move. But if I waited until tomorrow I think it would freeze and be a tad more difficult.

For today's photo I am sharing a snapshot I made this morning while we were heading out for breakfast. Actually I have two snapshots for you.

And I have a cool video too. I shot this in the Cafe with my GoPro Hero 5. It starts with a female cardinal but if you skip forward a couple minutes another guest shows up. As always this is best viewed at Full Screen and in 1080p.

Welcome To The Friday View

I have said many times that the best time to photograph the Moon in during the Winter months. I state that based on my personal experience of course. It seems that the colder temperatures and dryer air make for a noticeably clearer image. And tonight is a perfect example. The temperature outside our house is around 19° F (7° C) and the sky is crystal clear. There is a bit of wind but nothing too bad. Just an occasional breeze. This all adds up of course to me setting up to shoot a couple dozen frames of our closest celestial neighbor. Though it was too cold to spend any sizable amount of time out there I am very pleased with my results. And so for today's photo I share this with you.

Today we take a look back to December 28, 2014. This is one of three photos I posted that day. I shot it at the Pawling's Farm Trail section of Valley Forge National Park. You can see the original post by Clicking Here.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

I was going through my recent archives this afternoon to see what I like but have not shared here yet. And I was drawn back to a snow covered Valley Forge and yet another black and white shot. Here we see a rare view of the Memorial Arch without any park visitors in the frame. The snow seemed to have kept a lot of people away.

Welcome To The Tuesday View

Hi folks. After the rush of the holiday season I finally got a chance to simply relax and take it easy today. I was fortunate enough to have the day off from work. It would have been a good day for me to get out and do some shooting but I just didn't. It was a bit chilly and I just didn't feel like dealing with it. I did however do a little indoor shooting. Mainly the large orchid on our kitchen window sill. So for today's photo I would like to share this shot with you.

Welcome To The Monday View - Christmas Day 2017

Merry Christmas my friends! As I was cleaning up in the Cafe yesterday I took notice to our holly trees. I saw that they are full of tiny red berries. And I gave thought that I better get out there and shoot now if I wanted to get a good photo because there are a lot of birds that will soon be devouring these little treats. So grab my camera I did and here is what I got. Well, one of what I got.

I must state that though many birds do eat these that they are quite poisonous to domestic animals such as cats and dogs.

Welcome To The Sunday View - Christmas Eve 2017

Merry Christmas Eve my friends. Kim and I have once again been busy preparing for our guests tomorrow for Christmas dinner. And I am happy to say I think we are just about there. But as busy as it has been I did manage to get out and shoot for a short time this morning. I tried for a sunrise but I was a tad late. I did grab this view though at the Norristown Farm Park which is literally about a hundred yards from our house.

Welcome To The Saturday View

Today sure was a busy one around here my friends. We had some shopping to do and a lot of preparation for Christmas in just over a day now. There is still more to do too. Naturally I really haven't had time this week to do much shooting so for today's photo I am sharing this Bald Eagle from a recent trip to the zoo.

Welcome To The Friday View

I'm getting this out late my friends so let's get right to it shall we?

Today I am sharing one more (and probably last) shot from a snowy Valley Forge last weekend. And it is yet another black and white. I wasn't sure at first about this one because the Sun is kind of strong but I just had to post it. I love the composition.

Welcome To The "Throwback Thursday" View

Today we take a look back to two years ago in Center City Philadelphia. Kim and I were in town to see a show and visit the Christmas Village that is set up at Love Park every year. We also visited Macy's at the old John Wanamaker Building to see their annual Christmas Light Show. I recommend both if you happen to be in Philly around the holiday season.

Here is today's photo.

No trip to Valley Forge is complete without me stopping to photograph "My Favorite Tree". So here it is for probably the something like thousandth time in glorious black and white.

When I looked at the original color image I felt as though something was missing. So to make the final image "more" I made it "less". I think it sets the mood of the scene better.

Welcome To The Sunday View

Today's photo is another shot from yesterday at Valley Forge. It is a familiar scene to those who follow my blog since I shoot it during just about every trip I make to the park. I guess it's because this cabin happens to be located next to "my favorite tree".

Welcome To The Saturday View

Well the snow has come and gone and all that remains is some spotty lawn coverage. The forty degree weather we had today is the reason I guess. But before the temp got up there Kim and I took a drive to Valley Forge so I could get some pics before it went away. And now I would like to share this one with you.

This is Washington's Headquarters viewed from the Valley Forge train station. The station no longer handles passengers and is now one of the many historical exhibits within the park. You can read more about it here. I'm not one to shoot through glass often but every once in a while a scene catches my eye. This was one of those times.

Here is the EXIF data.

In our travels today we also saw Santa arrive to town as we were entering a diner. Here is a quick video.
