Welcome To The Daily View

Wow! It's getting late and here I am just starting today's post. I guess that means it's going to be a quick one huh? Let's get started then.

Today I am sharing a snapshot of Kim's and my view as we ate dinner at one of our favorite places. A restaurant by the name of "The Cock N' Bull" in Peddler's Village in Lahaska Pennsylvania. About 25 Miles from our home.

As always I am not sharing technical info since this is a snapshot straight out of my camera. In this case my Samsung Galaxy S6.

Welcome To The Daily View

Well folks we are back from our long weekend. It was short but a nice change of pace. And though it was really cloudy and did rain a bit it didn't really affect us that much.

If I didn't mention it already Kim and I spent the weekend in Atlantic City. And as usual we stayed at our favorite place, The Flagship Resort. We had a 14th floor suite with a pretty nice ocean view. So when you add it up you can pretty much bet I was going to try to shoot a nice sunrise.

Nope! As it turned out our view was just a touch too far southwest. I could see some of the early red sky but the sun itself was just out of reach. Sure I could have gone outside and grabbed a great shot except for the fact I woke up too late. So doing the best I could under the circumstances I grabbed today's photo.

Not a sunrise but I do like the way the light fades.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today's post is a little different and something I haven't done before.

Kim and I are on a much needed long weekend vacation. And I decided to not bring my laptop on this trip. But I still want to do a quick post.

Today I am sharing one of my previous photos. It doesn't go too far back so you may remember it. But I hope you enjoy a second look.

So please click the link below and as always thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Daily View

Today was yet another on and off rainy day. When I got home this afternoon I was lucky enough to catch a dry spell and was able to mow our front yard. And when I was done I was even able to shoot a little. I didn't get a lot of good ones but I did capture this little guy hanging out on one of our trees.

Welcome To The Daily View

It was another rainy day here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. But I did manage to grab some shots of the Dahlia we have planted in our front garden. When we first bought it about a month ago it already had flowers but since then they have fallen. About a week after however several buds sprang up and finally began to open a couple days ago.

Welcome ToThe Daily View

Yesterday I shared one of our regular Cafe guests, a Downy Woodpecker. Today I would like to share another regular with you. And we sure do get lots of them. This is one of our many Grackles.

I have to say that I wasn't extremely fond of Grackles at first but they really aren't that bad. They do fight with our Bluejays but then again, Bluejays are rather aggressive birds.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today we take a look at one of our regular cafe guests dining at our newest feeder.

We have had this feeder out for a while now but very few woodpeckers would use it while we were around. After some time however they seem to have become more comfortable around us. I am glad because there is so much more available sunlight and I can get some really nice shots.

Welcome To The Daily View

Like most of the month today was another rainy day. And I think tomorrow is going to offer more of the same. But rather than let all of this dampness bring me down I am taking advantage of the situation and recording the natural beauty that rain can provide. Today I would like to share a piece of what I came up with.

I usually try to keep a natural look in this type of shot but I kind of like it with the contrast kicked up.

Welcome To The Daily View

Kim and I have been in our new house for just over four months now. And we are still learning about the area even though we used to live four short miles away. Today for the first time we attended "West Norriton Day". I guess it's really just a day to celebrate the town we live in. Kind of a hometown pride thing that most towns have throughout the country. And like many of those similar celebrations the day ended with a rather nice fireworks show.  But what was really cool was that we were able to view it from the comfort of our own back yard. It was like a front row seat. I guess that's because it took place just a quarter mile away.

Today's photo of course is my attempt to capture some of the show with my camera. In this case my phone.

Click For Full Size Image

Don't mind the power line in the shot. Hey, I said our view was front row. Not perfect :)

Being a "snapshot" I don't think it's necessary to share technical info. I will tell you however that I was using my Samsung Galaxy S6.

I did also shoot some video. It's not bad. I learned a lot about the view though and think the next time will be a lot better.

Welcome To The Daily View

We have a few feeders located in different areas of the new Cafe here and more on the way. One though is very close to the house. So close that I really haven't seen a lot of birds using it. Oh the suet I fill it with disappears but not usually when I am around. Except just recently that is now that we are seeing a lot of Gray Cat Birds. I can't recall ever seeing these birds before. Not at the old cafe and not at my home before that. But we sure have them now. And they seem to be a little braver than other breeds.

This guy (or girl?) was about five feet away from me when I shot this.

Welcome To The Daily View

Another day another bird. I seem to be on a theme lately but I just can't help it. I told you Friday that when I have had a stressful day that I love nothing more than relaxing in our garden and being with nature. And around here that means lots and lots of birds. Today I am sharing this Grackle that was having a snack at one of our suet feeders.

Welcome To The Daily View

What a weekend my friends. Yesterday was basically a complete washout. I think we got somewhere between two and three inches of rain. Then today started out bright and sunny. Around noon though the skies turned cloudy and then sunny again. Then it rained and now it seems to be clear(ish) but very windy. A real weather roller coaster huh? In the midst of all of this though we did manage to enjoy some of the nicer moments and drove to Valley Forge for a bit. And I could share a ton of new stuff with you. But instead I am sharing something you long time readers have seen a time or two. And that is none other of "My Favorite Tree". In beautiful black and white.

Welcome To The Daily View

After several days of birds I thought I would switch it up a little and share something different today. And even with all of the rain we are getting this actually is from today. Check out this very persistent squirrel.

They say it's the early bird that catches the worm. In this case I suppose it's the wet squirrel that catches the peanut? He must have been hungry because I was able to get pretty close. Either that or he is beginning to trust me.

Welcome To The Daily View

It seems that my string of bird photos is going to continue at least one more day here at the blog.

Ever have one of those days? Of course you have. And I had one today. So to decompress after work I grabbed my camera and spent some time in the sanctuary that is our back yard and relaxed among the sounds of many different birds chirping away. And I even managed to snap off about 160 or so frames.

Being a cloudy afternoon it was a little on the darker side today. As such I had to adjust and use a higher film speed and a bit slower shutter speed than I like to use when shooting wildlife. But I made do. Oh there a lot of tweaking to be done but I think today's photo is pretty good. It's not a masterpiece but I like it. I hope you do too.
