Today's throwback takes us to December 5, 2014. But it also takes us to August of 1992. Confused? Don't be. In my December 5, 2014 post I shared an image that I shot (on film) in 1992. It was part of my "Retro Friday" pics that eventually evolved into Throwback Thursday. Yeah I know it's not very original but it helps me take a quick break during the work week. Today I am continuing with the "looking back" theme I started yesterday. It's kind of fun going through some of the stuff from throughout the year and giving it a second chance at meeting the world.

So let's take a look at our trip to Washington DC in July. July 12 to be precise.

 
A shot from one of my favorite sites in DC. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I have many good memories of visiting there with my cousin Charles many times over the years. Charles passed away a few years ago and I miss him every day but I am thankful for all of the great memories and places we visited together.

Exploration Photography Daily View - July 15, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View! If you have been watching the news lately you undoubtedly have seen many photos of the successful flyby of Pluto by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft. This accomplishment once again sets the United States at the forefront of space exploration and gives us something to be proud of again. To honor this great achievement I would like share an image that commemorates another American first. The first humans to step foot on the Moon. Shot at the Smithsonian Institute National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC here is one of the Apollo Lunar Module's. This is not the actual module that touched down on the Moon but it was integral in Earthbound testing of the Apollo 11 Module. 

So where will we go next? Who knows? But I am sure that we as not just Americans but as a humankind will keep pushing the envelope. It is what we do! And I for one am very anxious to see the many photos of Pluto and it's moons that will be released over the next weeks.

Exploration Photography Daily View - July 13, 2015

Hi folks! Well Monday is in the bag and I have to say I am still kind of beat from our busy weekend. But that's okay because we had a great time.

Today I would like to share a photo I made while in front of The National  Museum of American History - Smithsonian Institute. This is an old time ice cream truck that I thought looked good with the Washington Monument in the background. And I love the clouds too.

Exploration Photography Daily View - July 12, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View! We had a very busy weekend and just got back a little while ago so this is going to be quick. We spent the last couple of days in Washington DC and on the way back to our car this afternoon I came across this guy.

He was great! Not afraid of me at all and in fact he even ate some bread from my hand. Check out this video and you'll see what I mean.

December 5, 2014 - Photo of The Day

Hi and thanks for stopping by. It's Friday again and that means I will be sharing another "retro" photo with you today.

This time we travel back to August 1992 Washington DC. I shot this in 35mm but I am not sure what camera I used. It's not the sharpest photo and there is a little grain but I think the composition is pretty good.

This is the Lincoln Memorial as it was undergoing a little cosmetic work. Oh and there's a plane overhead. I'm pretty sure planes cannot fly there anymore. Especially at that altitude. But anyway this is a little glimpse into my early photographic work.
