Wednesday View - 30 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

In an earlier post I told yo that I didn't want to carry my camera to the beach because of the general rainy weather. So in turn I have been posting snapshots from my phone. Today we continue down that road with a scene I have been wanting to share for a couple weeks now. I have shot it several times with both my camera and my phone, today's post being one of the phone versions. I have a vision for this but I can't seem to get it down. This is the closest I have come though.

I shot this along one of the entrance ways to the beach n Avalon New Jersey.

Remember the good old days when your camera used film instead of a memory card? Remember one hour developing? Well you probably can't get film developed in one hour anymore but you can send it out. There's actually a lot of places that will process your film but with one problem. Most do not return your negatives. For me this is a deal breaker. However there is one place I can fully endorse and you may have even heard of it. Those of you in the say 35 years old and above bracket may remember Clark Color. They had those yellow envelopes that you stuffed your film canisters into and you filled out those little forms mailed it all away and in a few days to a week you received color prints and your negatives back. Well the envelopes changed color and it takes about a week and a half but Clark Color is still around. I have tested them and it's just like the old days. Even the pricing is fair. So if you would like to take a look and perhaps run some film through that old 35mm (come on you know you want to) just Click Here and give it a try.

And that will do it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday View - 29 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To the Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is another snapshot from this past weekend's trip to the Jersey Shore. Like yesterday's this was also shot at Avalon on Sunday afternoon. This time we see one of the many entrances to the sand. You can also see some rain clouds rolling in. And I am here to tell you that it rained. It rained hard and it rained just about all evening. But like I said yesterday we made the best of it and enjoyed some time together in our camper listening to the raindrops hit the metal roof. And to be honest really enjoyed it. But on the other hand some nice dry weekends would be nice too.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It seems so far that this might be one of those rainy weekend Summers. Since so far we have had a good amount of rain just about every weekend. And rain doesn't go too well with the shore. But Kim and I are making the best of it and still manage to find pockets of dry weather and head to the beach. Like yesterday when we visited Avalon beach. There was a good number of people there but considering it was a holiday weekend it wasn't all that crowded. As with any beach visit I snapped a lot of photos. This time with my phone. I had the camera in my truck but because of the weather and the salt air in general I left it behind. I still got some good stuff though. Like today's view.

Saturday View - 26 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Like last weekend and most weekends during the Summer months my posts are going to be a little shorter. Kim and I will be traveling around a lot so it is just the best I can do and still keep up to date. I will however start posting more mobile views so I think that will balance things out.

For today's photo I am sharing a rather rare (lately) shot of one of the cardinals that frequents the Cafe. I do see them everyday but not nearly as much as the other birds.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's post is another quick one. We have been so busy recently and things around the house just needed to be done. So today's photo is a snapshot from Sunday afternoon at our campsite in Cape May Courthouse in New Jersey.

Kim and i have worked hard to set up camp for the Summer and I think it's coming along well. I shot this right after we had stone poured. 5 tons of stone. 5 tons of stone that we had to shovel and rake. But now we won't have a swamp every time it rains. And best of all we are close to many shore points and sites of interest and that means a lot of cool places to shoot.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's rather quick post is simply a shot of the Atlantic Ocean under last weekend's very cloudy skies. See how empty the beach is? Well as long as it isn't raining or unusually cold it sure won't be that way this weekend. It will be like the flip of a switch and there will be many, many people crowding this and many of the other South Jersey shore points

It is apparent from this image that I should of cleaned my lens a little better. If you look close you can see water spots here and there. I cleaned some of them in Photoshop but didn't get too much into it.

Sunday View - 20 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Kim and I are back from our weekend at the shore (down the shore for those in the Philadelphia region) and that means we are back to regular posts.

It was a rather rainy weekend but it did clear up today. We even saw some sun. Most of Saturday was a wash but toward the end of the day we were able to take a drive to the beach and have a look around. And it was a ghost town. Next week however, rain or shine, it will be packed. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of Summer and people flood to the shore points to kick it off. We usually don't but since we have a seasonal camp site we will be right there with them.

For today's photo I am sharing this view from Avalon Beach. It's one of those scenes that just caught my eye. I had a few of those that I will show you this week.

Throwback Thursday View - 17 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback goes way back to near the beginning of my blog when I still didn't post daily. Back then each edition was a bit larger but they were also spread out a lot more. Just look at May of 2014 when I only made four entries.  I often think about doing it the old way again but when I think about the fact that I have posted every day for nearly four years I just can't go back to that. Maybe one day but not yet. I will admit though that it would be a lot easier. But nothing worthwhile is necessarily easy, right?

So for today's throwback here is my post from June 2, 2014. This is one of many shots I shared that day so I encourage you to Click Here to see the original post in it's entirety.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For today's view I am sharing another bluejay photo from yesterday afternoon. And what a difference in weather between yesterday and today. Yesterday was nice and warm and dry while today was just a bit wetter. We had some pretty loud thunderstorms roll through accompanied by torrential downpours. At least I don't have to water the garden.

This was actually an accidental shot. I was testing my camera's settings and this was on my card when I was going over my photos later.

Monday View - 14 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

This evening was typical of almost any evening around here. I got home from work, let the dog out to run and then headed out to the Cafe to see who was there. And as usual there was plenty of birds. Mostly bluejays. Of course there was squirrels too. I tossed out some peanuts and went back in to let them have at it. A bit later I decided to grab my camera and set it up on a tripod and hook up the remote to try and get some bird photos. What I did was set out a pile of peanuts aimed the camera and stood inside the house behind the storm door and waited for the guests to show up. It didn't take long either. Bluejay after bluejay would swoop down grab a peanut and take off again. After a hundred frames or so I came up with a few good shots. Today I would like to share this one with you.

Sunday View - 13 May 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is a quick snapshot of a new addition to our Cafe. I intended to share something else but just two things got in the way. First I forgot my camera when we went away this weekend and second it rained most of the weekend. Kim and I were in Cape May Courthouse at our camper which is just three miles from the ocean and I wanted to do a sunrise but things just didn't work out that way. That's okay though. Maybe next time. So for today's view I am sharing a new feeder that I bought at a local store just down the road from our campground.

We get a lot of avian traffic this time of year so the more feeders the better. But I'm sure we'll see a squirrel or two using this one.

Before I go I would like to let you know about something new I am adding to my blog.

On most if not all days when I post I will also be adding a link to a website that I find interesting or useful in some way. Most of the time it will be photography based but I will also scatter other subjects in there as well.

I have not yet decided where exactly in my post I will incorporate this link but for today I am going to place it right here at the bottom.

Today's Link... ShotHotSpot

ShotHotSpot is a website that helps you find interesting places to shoot based on your location and other's experiences. I have not tested it thoroughly yet but will be over the following weeks.

As of right now this is a web based app but they are working on mobile apps as well that will really make this a useful tool. Enjoy.

Today's view is a snapshot from our garden. We planted this Day Lily last year around this time and I am glad to see it survived a rather cold Winter and has decided to bloom. We actually bought this at a yard sale near our house for something like $2.00 or $3.00. A bargain if you ask me.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's taken time but little by little the young squirrels are getting comfortable with me and are letting me get closer. When they first came down out of the tree they would run away if I just opened the door to the house. Now they seem okay with me around while they eat. Of course it helps that they see me toss peanuts out for them. I guess they know where the food comes from. And speaking of peanuts here's one of the little guys enjoying one.
