Exploration Photography Daily View - January 31, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Yesterday I had planned on getting out to shoot but as I said in my last post it just didn't work out. So I figured I'd get up and shoot the sunrise today but it seemed unlikely because I was up rather late. But as it turned out I was up nice and early so I drove over to Valley Forge with plenty of time to spare. So for your viewing pleasure here is today's sunrise.

As you can see there is still plenty of snow left on the ground but luckily it's only on the grass. And it was quite warm too.

After shooting the sunrise I thought it would be nice to take a drive through the park and take in some of the scenery.  So I set up my camera phone (Samsung galaxy S6) on the dash and made a video so I could share it with you too. I will warn you though that it is a bit long but you can always skip ahead. And as always it is best viewed at full screen in 1080P.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 30, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

I had planned on getting out to shoot today but with all of our errands it just didn't happen. So I thought about it and since I have been sharing a lot of snow photos lately, how about I post something a little more summery? So I dug into the archives and found this shot from June 2012 in Ocean City, New Jersey.

A bit overcast but I assure you it was a lot warmer than it is now. And no snow! This was a short day trip to OC on our way home from a week long camping trip in Cape May Courthouse. And if I remember correctly Kim and I met up with my sister Kathy and my brother-in-law Joe. It was my first time there but Ocean City has since become one of my favorite vacation destinations. It is a true family friendly beach town. Hopefully we'll get there a time or two this Summer. And if we do you know I'll share it with you in photos :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View And Weekly Roundup - January 29, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View and Weekly Roundup!

While filling the feeders in the freshly cleaned cafe this morning I saw one of our squirrels up in his tree enjoying a breakfast peanut and thought I'd share him with you today. In fact I think it's the same one from last night. Check him out.

Not the best shot I have ever made but I had to act fast. In fact by the time I shot this he already finished his peanut.

And now for the Weekly Roundup. Click any link below to take a second look at last weeks posts or maybe a first look if you missed a day.

Thursday January 28, 2016

Before I go I would like to share a video I shot this morning. As always this is best viewed full screen at 1080P.

And that wraps up another week my friends. Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 28, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

It was another nice day today filled with plenty of sunshine and some more warm temps. Naturally a lot more snow melted and with that we are seeing more and more ground. And the Cafe was looking rough! Lots and lots of spilled seeds and empty peanut shells. So I took advantage of the daylight after work and did some cleaning. It looks a lot better now but by the time I wrapped things up it was too dark to get a good shot so maybe I'll do  that tomorrow. But during the process I was able to grab this shot.

I heard some chattering up in my neighbor's tree and saw this guy running around jumping from branch to branch. Luckily he stopped to enjoy a peanut and I was able to get a few photos. I must say that I wasn't sure how I liked this but the more I worked with it the more it grew on me. I guess you could call it a silhouette.

Thanks for stopping by my friends!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 27, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

It was another warm one today. Relatively speaking that is. And the snow is sure dwindling away. Even the Cafe is starting to clear up.

Wow what a mess! It looks like I need to get out there and do some sprucing up. But at least we stayed open for the duration of the storm. I am glad too because during the cold months our local wildlife need to eat as much as possible to keep up their strength and to stay warm. But this is also a time when food is scarce. So I just try to do my part to help them out. And if it provides some photo ops that's even better :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 26, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Seeing as we are still blessed with a lot of snow on our local roads (thanks Upper Merion) I thought I'd share another photo of my drive to work with you. This was shot yesterday morning but the scene hasn't changed a lot.

Okay it's a bit better but not from plowing. The weather warmed up today and it was pretty sunny. How is your snow situation? We can't be the only place that feels forgotten.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 25, 2016

Hi and welcome to the daily View!

Well today is day two of the big dig out and there is a lot left to do. There is snow everywhere. Many roads around here are one lane and almost impossible to navigate. Naturally I shot several photos of my drive to work this morning and would like to share this one with you.

This road is normally narrow and not fun to drive but throw in some snow and this is what you get. I am glad there weren't a lot of other cars.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 24, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Today was all about the big dig out after this monumental snowstorm. We officially got 26.1 inches and the snow drifts were even higher. Probably three to four feet. But like I said yesterday we are just working with it and I am happy to say that we can finally get out. But it wasn't easy. I spent the entire day shoveling and during that time I saw several vehicles get stuck on my street.

So today's photo is all about the dig out.

This is our back deck and is the first thing I did this morning. Luckily with the sun shining on it it is even better now. Hopefully in a few months (or less) I will be sitting on one of those chairs enjoying some warm weather.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View And Weekly Roundup - January 23, 2016

Hi and welcome to a very snowy Daily View!

The snow is still here and it is relentless! So far it has been falling off and on for more than 24 hours and from what I can tell it will continue for another 6 or 7 hours. We could get a total of 24 to 30 or more inches. But we are doing our best to keep up with it. We have shoveled more times than I care to remember and though we may be done for the day there is lots more to do tomorrow.

As for the Cafe? Well I am paying special attention to it and I am happy to say that though I cannot control the weather I can keep our customers well fed. Here is a shot of some of our avian friends enjoying a much needed meal.

And as a special "snow Day" bonus here is a photo of one of our squirrels eating a peanut in some pretty harsh snowfall.

Just because it is snowing and the weather may be foul our wildlife friends still need to eat. I am glad to be able to help and at the  same time get some nice shots to share with you.

And now for the Weekly Roundup! As always you can click on any of the links below to catch up in case you missed a day or perhaps to take a second look.

And before I go I would like to share a short video from today's snow covered Cafe. I just cleared it again right before I shot this.

And that wraps up another week. As always I thank you for stopping by and invite you to come back again real soon!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 22, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

The big one is upon us my friends. The first real snow storm of the season and according to most forecasts we are getting at least 18 inches of the horrid white stuff. And I am sure I will have plenty of photos to share real soon but for now I would prefer to look back at a sunnier and warmer time.

This is an aerial view of Ocean City New Jersey from August 2015. I shot this from a Ferris Wheel and I can tell you that it sure was warm. Probably about 85° or so.

I haven't forgotten about the Weekly Roundup but it's going to be a day late. So be sure to check back!

Thanks for stopping by and if you have to go out in the snow please be careful!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 21, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

A few days ago I read that today January 21 was "Squirrel Appreciation Day". And I promptly forgot all about it. So when I posted a squirrel photo yesterday it was simply a coincidence. Today however I am posting another in honor of this very important day. Well it's important to me and other fans of squirrels :)

Happy Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 20, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

It's been a while since I have posted a squirrel photo. So on this cold wintry day I thought I'd take a trip back to May when the temperatures were a little friendlier and share this guy with you.

I don't think he his going to give up his peanuts easy :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 19, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

So after my oh so cold shot of the Moon yesterday evening I woke up this morning to a very frigid sunrise. So I figured hey why not? And I went out in a somewhat chilly 14° F (-10° C) to bring you the hot, hot Sun.

The Sun has a core temperature of about 27 Million degrees Fahrenheit (15 Million degrees Celsius) but even that couldn't break us out of the 20's today. I keep telling myself that we are one more day closer to Spring. And besides we have been very lucky this Winter.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 18, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Well Winter sure has taken hold for the time being and wow it's cold! And windy! So what did I do this afternoon after work? Well I headed outside to shoot the Moon. Photographically of course :)

It may be cold but not too cold for "the man in the Moon". Can you see him?

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 17, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Yes Virginia that is snow!

Today for the second time this Winter we got a bit of snow. A very little bit and I am just fine with it. We basically have a light dusting with nothing sticking to the sidewalks or roads. So it's ornamental I guess? Of course you can probably guess the subject of today's photo. Snow!

I think our rhododendron looks good in white :)

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 16, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

It's getting late my friends so this is going to be quick. I am working on a lot of projects and the time just seems to have slipped away today.

Please enjoy this unopened rose I shot at Longwood Gardens on New Years Day.

Exploration Photography Daily View And Weekly Roundup - January 15, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View and Weekly Roundup!

For the past couple of days I have been going over photos I have shot recently and for some reason the candles from New Years Eve stuck out to me. And it just so happened that while I was doing this we had a jar candle burning so I thought I would set the camera up on the tripod and shoot some new frames and see what I came up with. Naturally that is the subject of today's photo.

And now we come to the Weekly Roundup. Click any of the links below to take a second look (or first look) at the past week's posts.

And that wraps up another week my friends. Thanks as always for stopping by and I hope you come back real soon!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 14, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Yesterday I took a look back to our recent trip to Lancaster by sharing a drive by photo of the sunset. Today I would like to go back just a bit more to New Years day and our visit to Longwood Gardens. I am not sure what kind of tree or bush this is but it has some really cool looking bark.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 13, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Today I would like to go back about a week and share a shot from our overnight trip to Lancaster. Now first let me give the common sense disclaimer "don't try this at home, or in your car, especially while driving). Good! Now that's out of the way. Check out the photo.

A beautiful Lancaster sunset. Shot with my Samsung Galaxy S6 while doing about 50 MPH. I only wish that the window was a bit cleaner. I still like it though :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 11, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

When a gathering place is popular situations are bound to happen. And the Cafe is no exception. There are only so many seats to go around and sometimes too many patrons at one given time. Yesterday we had such an issue arise but I am pleased to tell you that things worked out and everyone left full and happy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 10, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Well the warm weather has returned if only for a day or so. It made it to around 62° here today and that's awesome when you think about the fact that it's still just the beginning of January. So when I got up this morning and discovered how warm it was outside I thought it would be great to shoot some frames at the Cafe. And we sure did have some customers today!

You've heard of a drive trough restaurant but how about a fly through?

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 9, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

I am still working on a review of sorts for the camera in my Samsung Galaxy S6. But though I may not be done with that little project doesn't mean that I am not using some images I have made with this awesome portable shooter. In fact yesterday's candle photo was made using my phone. And today I would like to share these beautiful cacti with you.

Shot naturally at Longwood Gardens this is just a sampling of some of the warmer variety of plants they have to offer in the Conservatory. I have said it before but it's worth repeating that if you ever get the chance you really should take a tour of Longwood. It's an amazing place.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View And Weekly Roundup - January 8, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View and Weekly Roundup!

To wrap up the week I thought I'd show you a photo I shot while wrapping up 2015 and thus beginning 2016. This is one of our bayberry candles on New Years Eve.

Every year of my life we have burned bayberry candles on Christmas Eve. It started of course with my parents and now I continue that tradition in my home with my own family. We also burn them on New Years Eve. It is believed by some that burning bayberry candles on Christmas and New Years Eve brings good luck and prosperity. I don't know about that but it is a family tradition and that's what matters the most to me.

And now for the Weekly Roundup. Click any of the links below for a second look at the past week or perhaps a first look if you missed a day.

And that's another week in the books my friends. I thank you for stopping by and invite you to come back often!

Until next time...
