Exploration Photography Daily View - June 30, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! Today as we close the door on June I would like to share a photo that I shot while the door was opening to a beautiful Sunday morning. Kim and I stayed at The Ponderosa Camp Ground in Cape May Courthouse in New Jersey this past weekend and I must admit that when I first stepped outside on Sunday I thought the day was going to be a wash. It was cloudy and raining and just dreary overall. But after about an hour the Sun started to peak out from behind those clouds and the rain went away. And we had absolutely perfect weather. Today I would like to share a little bit of that morning with you.

This was the view from our cabin. Well the view if you were looking up.

And once again I would like to share a short video with you. This was also shot on Sunday as I was sitting on the deck of our cabin. Check it out.

And that will do it for today folks. I hope you enjoyed your visit and I sure hope to see you again real soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 29, 2015

Yesterday I told you about our rainy day at the zoo. And it was a great day. Honestly it was probably the best trip to the zoo I have ever had. It may be the sheer ridiculousness of walking in the pouring rain but I think it's more likely the fact that the animals were very active. Whatever the reason it was just very enjoyable.

Fast forward to Sunday and the rain moves out and in came the sunshine. A great day for the beach! Kim and I had reservations for lunch at Gordon Ramsay's at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City and afterward we headed outside to enjoy some sun and sand. And that is where I shot today's Daily view.

Hey I had to sneak a seagull photo in. It wouldn't be a trip to the shore if I didn't.

And once again I have a video to share and it was also recorded while we were on the beach. Check it out at the link below.

And that's all for now. Please be sure to stop by again.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 28, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! Yesterday's post seems like forever ago. That is probably because I did it very early because Kim and I were going away for the night to the Jersey Shore. And just like the last few trips to the shore it rained. Very heavily. So what does one do when they are at the shore and it's pouring rain? Why go to the zoo, thats what! The Cape May County Zoo is just minutes away from where we were staying. It is a wonderful place and best of all it's free! I highly recommend it if you happen to be in the area. So naturally today's photo is from the zoo.

This is the bridge that leads to the plains animals as well as many others. When we got to the beginning of it I saw this scene and knew I had to share it. It looks a bit eerie but I promise it really isn't. It is actually very serene and "friendly".

And as a bonus I have a short video to show you. Actaully I have LOTS of videos to share but for today this is it. It was shot in the Reptile House.

Hungry Turtle <<< Click Here

And that will do it for now my friends. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back soon.  I have a whole lot more for you and tons of really good video.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 27, 2015

Hi folks! Today is another quick one because we have so much to do. So for today's Daily View I would like to share another photo of the Red Bellied Finch from the other day. A bit of a closer look.

And I've gotta go! See you soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 26, 2015

Hi folks! It's been a long day and it's getting late so let me get right to the Daily View. How's that sound? Good, let's go.

This is one of our squirrel friends enjoying a peanut up high in a neighboring tree.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll have more real soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 25, 2015

So I'm out in our front yard this morning tending to the cafe as I usually do. This means cleaning up after messy customers and of course making sure there is plenty of food. When I was done I had a little extra time and decided to grab my camera and get some quick shots. So I get to the door and look out and there is a groundhog chowing down. I wanted to get a photo but as I opened the door he took off like lightning. I didn't realize they could run that fast. Oh well. I did however get a few shots of some new guests. There were some birds eating at the upper dining section that I have never seen around here before. let me share one of the photos with you.

This is a red Bellied Finch. Also known as a House Finch. There were about three or four of them and I have never seen them before. I hope they come back so I can get some better shots.

Well that's about it for today but before I go I would like to share a website with you that I recently discovered and has been of great help to me in identifying birds. Take a look at it at the following link.

And now I must go. Thanks for stopping by.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 24, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! We sure did have some storm last night but fortunately we didn't have any damage. Some other nearby places were not so lucky. There are trees down and a lot of people are without electricity. With all of the rain and the warm weather our flowers (and grass, ugh) are really growing. So today I would like to share this with you.

This is our hosta. It has a lot of blooms this year and they will probably open fully this week.

I also have another storm video to show you. This was shot with my action cam. The sound is a bit muted because it was in it's waterproof case. And a couple minutes in there is some rain on the front lens cover but you will definitely get the idea. Check it out at the link below.

And that will do it for now folks. Thanks for stopping by.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 23, 2015

Wow! Did we get some weather today or what? The day started out hot and very humid. I felt like I was swimming at some points. But as the afternoon turned to evening the storms rolled in. And rolled in with a vengeance. Naturally as a service to you this reporter was out there  recording the wrath of nature in all it's splendor. Well at least for a couple of minutes. My Mom didn't raise any fools and I was smart enough to come in out of the rain. So I do have a video to share but first let's have a look at today's Daily View which ironically was shot after the storm.

If all of that "red sky at night" stuff is real I guess the weather should be calm tonight. Very peaceful looking isn't it? Well it certainly didn't start that way. Check out my storm video at the link below.

Thanks for stopping by my friends. And if you have to go out in the rain please stay safe.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 22, 2015

Hi there! Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! Today I would like to share a photo that I shot early yesterday morning. If you read my previous post and checked out the video you know that I visited Pawlings Farm in Valley Forge National Park. Well after about an hour and a half there I was heading for my car and spotted some wildflowers. And that is what I would like to show you.

And also check out this quick video. It is a view of one of the open fields from close to the ground. Lots of gnats but a cool perspective.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 21, 2015

Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View and welcome to Summer! And boy it sure does feel like Summer around here. It is now 7:40 PM as I write this and it is currently 88° F outside. It was even hotter a couple hours ago when Kim and I were in our little backyard pool. And speaking of the pool look who joined us today.

We bought our dog Schnitzel a little inflatable pool and are getting him used to floating in our pool with us. He didn't know what to make of it at first but over time he did a lot better. And naturally we were very close by in case he jumped out.

Aside from taking an afternoon dip it was a very busy day. I was up and out early to do some photographing at Valley Forge and later Kim and I visited our local zoo. Hey, Summer only lasts so long and I try to make the most of it. No sleeping in here! During my early morning journey I made a few videos. Today I would like to share one. Now this one is a little different. At least for me. When  I make a video I am always silent. Usually because I am trying to share what I am experiencing. But there is also a bit of stage freight I suppose. Well for better or worse you get to here a little narrative as I show you the Valley Forge "Witness tree".

I hope that wasn't too bad :) Oh, and if you would like to learn more about the Witness Tree check out my post from last year at this link.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 20, 2015

Hi my friends and welcome (or welcome back) to the Exploration Photography Daily View. The photo I had originally planned to share with you just didn't work out so instead I have another shot of the squirrel from the other day.

Click For Larger Image

I told you last time that this was shot from a couple of feet away. Well the day after this he came even closer and was seriously considering taking a peanut from my hand.  I would love to get a shot of that but it will be difficult. I think a camera may scare him off. But of course I'll try. Maybe if I set up a camera for video?

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 19, 2015

Hi all! Welcome to Friday and welcome to the latest edition of the Exploration Photography Daily View. Well Spring is almost over and in a couple of days it will officially be Summer. And I must say that it really feels like Summer around here. The days are hot and everything is at full bloom. In that light I would like to share this with you.

This is one of our many Vinca. In fact I have shared it before but being as it is one of my favorites I hope you don't mind another view. Beside no two photos are exactly the same and I really like the rain drops.

And that wraps up another Friday folks. But I'll be back real soon. I hope you will be too! Thanks for stopping by.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 17, 2015

Hi folks! Welcome to today's Exploration Photography Daily View! For the past few days I have been sharing pictures from our trip to Baltimore and I sure have plenty more but I thought I would switch it up a bit and share this with you instead.

Yep! It's another squirrel photo. We have four squirrels that hang around here and two of them are getting very comfortable with me getting close. In fact this guy is getting close to taking the peanut from my hand. This was actually shot from about three feet away.

I also have a video from the Cafe I would like to share with you. I recorded it this morning and boy what a busy morning it was. Lots of diners. Check it out at the link below.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 16, 2015

Hi folks! It's that time again. Time for another Exploration Photography Daily View. Today I would like to continue sharing our trip to Baltimore this past Saturday. And here is today's photo.

When at the Baltimore Inner Harbor one has several choices of cruises to view the city from the bay. Pictured here is a Pirate Cruise. We haven't tried this one yet but I think it would be a lot of fun. And as a side note I would like to assure you that I have not forgotten about my weekly full post. I am working on it and will be posting it in the next day or so.

Thanks for stopping by and I sure hope to see you again real soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 15, 2015

Hi and welcome to another edition of the Exploration Photography Daily View. Yesterday I shared a shot of the 9/11 Memorial that is located in front of the Baltimore World Trade Center. After visiting the memorial we took a trip up to the 27th floor observation deck. Here is a photo from that trip.

This is a view of the Inner Harbor looking toward the Chesapeake Bay. I had to shoot it through glass but I think it came out okay. And it's the best view in town!

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 14, 2015

Hi there and welcome (or welcome back) to the Exploration Photography Daily View! It feels like my last post was days ago because I did it early yesterday. Kim and I were traveling to Baltimore, Maryland for the day and I wasn't sure what time I was going to get home. And I'm glad I did it early because we got home just before midnight. It was a great day and I got tons of photos and would like to share one with you. And it is a very special photo.

This is three steel beams from the North Tower of the World Trade Center that was viciously attacked on September 11, 2001. A day that changed not only our lives here in the United States but the entire world. Like many visitors before me I touched the twisted beams and it was surreal. It is a piece of history. History I hope we never have to relive. History that I hope we learned from.

If you find yourself in Baltimore I urge you to visit the Baltimore World Trade Center where this memorial is located.

Thanks for stopping by my friends.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 13, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! And an early edition at that! Today is another busy day for me and Kim and that is why I am so early. So without further ado...

I grabbed this shot yesterday when  photographed the cardinal. In fact there were a lot of birds but I'll share some of them on another day. Gotta' go for now,

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 12, 2015

Hi there folks and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View! I have a good one for you today. At least I think it's good. Have a look.

I see this guy almost every day but rarely get a chance to grab a good photo. Today however he just showed up and landed on our arborvitaes while I was holding my camera. Now maybe the female cardinal will pose for me.

And one more thing before I wrap it up for the day. As I said in my post yesterday I wasn't 100% satisfied with my photo. So this morning before work I went out and shot  some more pics of the same flower. I think the results are much better. You can see it on my blog's Facebook page at this link.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 11, 2015

Hi and welcome to another edition of the Exploration Photography Daily View. Today after work I was outside watering our flowers and when I got to this one I had to share it with you.

First I must say that I am not completely happy with this shot but I hope you enjoy it anyway. I just couldn't seem to get it right. I think the lighting was an issue. But none of that stuff has anything to do with why I am sharing it today. You see about two weeks ago I had neglected to water this poor thing for a couple of days. A couple of hot days. Kim and I looked at it and thought it was done for but I thought it could be saved. So I of course watered it and checked it every day and here is what we have now. I am so glad we didn't give up on it. Now if I can make a shot that does it justice. I'll have to work on that. And I won't give up :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 10, 2015

Hi folks! Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View. Today I would like to share another photo from our trip to the shore this past weekend.

This is a view of Ocean City, New Jersey shot from the top of the Ferris Wheel at Gillian's Wonderland Pier on the Boardwalk. After all of the rain the day before we were lucky enough to get this beautiful scene.

And in addition to the Daily View I would also like to share a video with you. This was shot at the Avian cafe this afternoon. It's about 7 1/2 minutes long and I feel is some of the best video I have recorded so far. You get a close up look at a lot of birds. Please be sure to watch it in 1080P and also turn up the volume a bit. Most importantly, enjoy!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 8, 2015

Hi there! Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View. Today I would like to share a shot of one of our many neighborhood squirrels.

This was shot in my neighbor's yard with my camera phone about a half hour before we got a very heavy downpour. I guess he was grabbing a quick snack before taking cover.

Thanks for stopping by my friends.

A Long Weekend At the Jersey Shore

Hi there folks! Welcome to Exploration Photography. This past weekend Kim and I took a trip "down the shore" to Wildwood Crest in New Jersey for a long weekend. We tried to spend some time on the beach on Saturday but the weather had different plans for us. Oh I guess we could have stayed out there but when you see the lifeguards running for cover it makes you think twice.

So with rain falling inches per hour you would think the day was ruined. But mother nature was kind to us after all. You see, Kim and I had a Dolphin Watch Dinner Cruise planned and the rain cleared away and gave us plenty of sunshine just in the nick of time. And today I would like to share a handful of photos from this trip. I have a lot more to go through but for now check these out.

These first few were shot before we boarded. And what trip to the shore would be the same without a picture of a seagull?

This is a pirate cruise that was leaving when we got there.

And this is the boat we went out on.

And here are some shots while on the cruise. Yay! We get to hold up traffic!

And here is the Cape May Lighthouse.

And lastly, for today, here is a shot of our boats wake. I also have some video that I will share soon.

And speaking of video check this out. I shot this on the beach earlier in the day before we got rained on.

And that's all for now. But I have plenty more to share. Thanks for visiting and be sure to come back soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 7, 2015

Hi there my friends! Kim and I are back from the beach but it's getting late so I will be sharing a Daily View but my full post will have to be put off until tomorrow. But check this out.

I shot this while we were on a dolphin watch cruise. It's not my best work but if you have ever tried to photograph dolphins in the wild you know that it is not easy. I am actually quite happy with this photo.

I have a lot more to share but like I said it will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 6, 2015

Hi there! Fresh from Wildwood Crest, New Jersey I present to you today's Exploration Photography Daily View. It's a bit of a dreary view but here you go.

This was shot on our trip from the beach back to our room. It was pouring rain and we got very wet. But even in a downpour I found time to snap a few shots off for your viewing pleasure. And if you take a close look you can actually see the rain on the left side of the image.

And I shot a lot of video too. Here is one for now that I made right before the skies opened up on us. Oh and just an FYI...Acuuweather is not so accurate.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 5, 2015

Hey folks! Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View. Kim and I are in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey and while out driving this evening we came across the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. As many if you have probably figured out by now I am a fan of National Parks and wildlife in general. So we had to check it out. In doing so we found a marsh trail which led to this beautiful scene.

Considering it was rather cloudy, a little dark and this was shot with a camera phone I think it came out nice. I hope we return there for a longer visit. There is lot's to see.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View.

This is the exit road at the Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania. As far as I know there is always a few inches of water to drive through. I don't know for sure because we have only been there once. At least it's paved. And we will definitely be going back!

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 3, 2015

Hi there folks! How's the weather in your parts? It's still cloudy here but the rain is gone. At least for now. And today I finally got to add an edition to the Avian Cafe. Check it out.

We have our first bird condo! I painted it over the weekend and it's finally dry (the birdhouse and the weather) and put it up this afternoon. Now we just have to wait and see if there are any takers. And when there is I'll be there with my camera :)

Hi and welcome to the latest Exploration Photography Daily View!

This is a view from the Camden Waterfront looking at Penns Landing in Philadelphia on the other side of the Delaware River. I shot it last Saturday night with my smartphone, a Motorola Droid Turbo, after attending a concert at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

And as a little bonus here is another video I shot yesterday at the Cafe.

Exploration Photography Daily View - June 1, 2015

Hi folks and welcome to June! And what a wet welcome it is huh? At least around here. But forget about the weather and check out today's Daily view.

Kim spotted this while we were in our pool yesterday. I think it's a Robin's nest because there is one that hovers around this area and I saw it on the nest at one point. I don't know if there are any eggs in it and I don't want to disturb it to find out.

And now back to the rain! I shot a few videos that I would like to share with you. Check them out at the links below.
