Welcome To The Saturday View

Today I am sharing a snapshot from our visit today to one of my favorite places. The Cape May County Zoo in Cape May Courthouse New Jersey. I have written about it in previous posts and I just cannot say enough good about the place. First of all it offers free admission, though they do appreciate donations. And we always throw some money in the bucket. And second it's a really nice zoo. It's big and offers a wide variety of exhibits. And there always seems to be improvements being made.

While walking through the zoo today we saw this.

He was noisy and he certainly was not shy. And he seems to be molting too.

This is a quick one but I must go for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Friday View

Today's photo is a back up. Meaning I originally intended to share something else but decided not to. I wanted to share an image of the Moon that I made last night but after taking a good look at it I just didn't like it. So instead I dug into my recent work and found this one from last weekend in the Cafe.

I am not completely satisfied with this one either. There is a little blur. But I think the composition more than makes up for it.

Welcome To The "Throwback Thursday" View

Today we step back to December 5, 2015. A post which took us back to August of 1992 Washington DC. Here we see the Lincoln Memorial as it is going through a renovation. And there is also a commercial jet flying overhead. Something that you will likely never see again.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

It's Wednesday, the middle of the week and it's a snapshot kind of day. I am typing this at just past 10 PM and it's gonna be quick. For today's photo I would like to share Atlantic City's answer to The London Eye. This is the Steel Pier Observation Wheel.

Click For Full Size Image

It may or may not be as tall as London's but it sure is a lot taller than it looks here. And it is yet another example of the improvements being made in AC. I think opening day is in mid October and when it does open we'll be there early on to take a ride.

And that will do it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Tuesday View

I was in our front yard this afternoon looking at all of the leaf wrangling and lawn mowing that I need to do and I glanced up at the sky and saw what would become today's photo. It was the perfect mix of composition and color. And the weather was just right. I'd share that too if I could. I'm working on it though (lol). But for now please enjoy this.

Welcome To The Monday View

A trip to the shore wouldn't be complete without at least one shot of a seagull. But when we actually spent time sitting on the beach on Saturday I left my camera in the truck. I really don't like keeping it with me when we actually spend time in the sand because the elements tend to dirty it up. Now if I happen to be out strictly shooting it's another thing. So to make a long story short I didn't get any good shots that day. I did however spot this guy while we were eating breakfast on Sunday morning. The thin wire you see is the protective barrier the restaurant puts up so birds don't go after people's food.

Welcome To The Sunday View

Kim and I spent another weekend in Atlantic City. And last night was kind of a late one but somehow I managed to get up early enough to view a spectacular sunrise. I shot a lot of frames and there are a few good ones but overall I think they could have been better. Today I would like to share this one with you. Let's get up close and personal with the Earth's closest star.

Welcome To The Saturday View

I know that I have had a lot of busy days lately and today is another one. But I did get a chance this morning to get out to the Cafe and do some shooting. I got a lot of good stuff. For today's photo I would like to share this close up of one of our finches. He and many of his friends spent a lot of time with us today and they are all well fed.

Welcome To The "Throwback Friday" View

Seeing as I did not do a "Throwback Thursday" post and also seeing as this was a long and busy week I am taking this opportunity to re-share one of my favorite photos.

From just a little less than a year ago is this cool action shot I made at the old Cafe. I don't see this kind of action too often at the new Cafe. It's probably because I have a lot more feeders and they are very spread out.

It seems as though there is a growing trend here but today's post is yet another snapshot. It is however a snapshot+. I actually had something else in mind but when I got home from work and saw this I knew I had to share it.

There's not many bees left for this season but this one sure was determined. He didn't even seem to notice me.

To compliment yesterday's snapshot I thought it would be nice to share another that gives you a wider shot of Herr's Mill. In other words It's getting late and this is gonna be quick! Seriously though this does go along well with the hitching posts. And I figured black and white would help present a nice vintage look.

Welcome To The Tuesday View

Today I would like to share a snapshot from our trip to Lancaster County a week or so go. Well it's actually a snapshot+ . The plus means I did some cropping and some very minimal adjustments.

I shot this at Herr's Mill which is actually located on the property of an RV campground not far off of US Route 30. I can only imagine how many horses have been hitched here over the years.

Welcome To The Monday View

Today's photo is the result of a mistake. Well not really but yes it is. Makes sense right? Let me clear this up.

I was out shooting our back yard this afternoon trying to capture some more colors of the impending Autumn season that is headed our way. At one point I decided it would be nice to capture a turning leaf before it falls off it's tree. I figured it would be a nice contrast to the many shots I have shared of leaves on our lawn. So I stood under one of our dogwoods, aimed upward at a leaf and after one shot decided I couldn't get anything good without a tripod. I then went about photographing other scenery. Fast forward to the editing stage and to my delight that one single frame turned out pretty good.

So there you have it. Never count any shot out until you take a good look at it. And speaking of looking at it here is the completed photo.

Welcome To The Sunday View

It seems that more and more Fall is approaching. And it just feels like it's early somehow. Sure it made it into the 80's again today but there was a lot of raking and other yard work to be done. And that's how I spent most of my day. So in turn I really didn't have time to shoot. Therefore today's photo is a snapshot I made last weekend when we were in Lancaster County. Ironically it's another sign of Fall.

Welcome To The Saturday View

A couple days ago or so I shared a view of a rose on our rose bush. It was fully open and bathed in raindrops. One of my personal favorites to tell the truth. Today I am sharing a somewhat smaller rose. In fact it's barley a rose yet. Take a look at this beautiful rose bud.

Welcome To The Friday View

It's finally Friday my friends and I for one am glad. It has been a long week of work and then more work at home and I am ready for a break. I'm sure we'll find things to do around the house but at least it should be a slower pace.

For today's photo I would like to share some of our dogwood leaves as they start their color change for the upcoming Fall season. I like Fall and Fall weather. I love the colors. It's just what follows that I am not a big fan of. But at least we have nice scenery to get us through it.

Today's throwback post is sort of a "throwback to the second power". Hailing from December 19, 2014 is a throwback of a retro photo. If you look at the original post here you will see what I mean. But for now have a look at this cool lightning I captured n 2010.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

As I was in our back yard this afternoon filling up the feeders at the Cafe I noticed how our rose bush has bloomed. It has several flowers and seems to be doing very well. I was slightly concerned with it's location when I first planted it but it was the best place I could find so I went with it. And it's turned out to be the perfect spot. Today I would like to share one of the flowers bathed in afternoon rain.

Welcome To The Tuesday View

Today we step away from our Lancaster trip and head back home and into the Cafe. While sprucing up on Sunday I came across some cool subjects. What makes them cool is that they are every day sites that are interesting when you take a closer look. To me at least.

On Sunday I shared a woodpecker feather and today I am sharing another close up view. This time it's a fallen leaf from our weeping willow tree. Our weeping willow is one of the first things that drew my attention to what has become our beautiful back yard. Actually it was the tree and it's colorful leaves that coated the grass when we first stepped foot here in the Fall.

For some reason the leaf displayed in today's photo stands out to me.

Well the projects continue and to tell the truth I am beat. But like I said yesterday things are coming together and it's looking better and better around here. Pretty soon we'll be decorating for Halloween.

For today's photo I would like to share a snapshot I made while we were in Lancaster County on Saturday. This is a farm view as seen from Kitchen Kettle Village.

Welcome To The Sunday View

Today Kim and I caught up on a lot of yard projects that have kind of been put on the back burner over the Summer. Oh I have maintained everything pretty well but there are projects that need to be done. I am not kidding when I say that we have been working since 8 am this morning. But all of that hard work is paying off and things are looking good. There's still a ways to go but I can see it coming together.

While doing some leaf blowing today I came across what became the subject of today's photo. As many woodpeckers that I see every day I have never found a woodpecker feather. Well I found one today and now I am sharing it with you. This is from a Downy Woodpecker.

Welcome To The Saturday View

After all the rain last weekend brought us mother nature has done a complete 180 and has given us a wonderful day to spend outside. Kim and I took advantage of it and spent the day in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. We were all over the place and took in a lot of really nice scenery and naturally a grabbed a shot or two. All of them snapshots because I didn't bring my camera but I did get some good stuff. For today's photo I would like to share this one with you.

Welcome To The Friday View

On Monday morning as I was enjoying the break in the bad weather we had all weekend I had some company. Our dog Schnitzel joined me to get some fresh air and some rare sunshine. Schnitzel is a very difficult subject when it comes to being photographed. He literally hates it and will not cooperate. So when I was able to get this shot I knew I had to share it.

Welcome To The "Throwback Thursday" View

Today's throwback post really is just that. It goes back to my early days of digital photography. And it also happens to contain one of my all time favorite images. Shot on March 5, 2003 with the amazing Fuji S602Z at Seaworld in San Diego California is this awesome creature.

Click For Full Size Image

You can see the original post by clicking here.

The Fuji S602Z was an awesome camera. It was a bit expensive in it's day ringing up at US$750.00 in 2003. That's around US$950.00 today. That doesn't sound like a lot but most long zoom bridge cameras cost much less now. But at the time it was one of the better options out there. I still have that camera. In fact I recently obtained a couple CF memory cards and a CF card reader. Maybe I'll take it out again and have some retro fun. Sounds like a project. Hmm.

That's all for now my friends. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Wednesday View

It's Wednesday my friends and that means it's snapshot day. Well not really. Wednesday isn't really snapshot day but I am sharing a snapshot on this particular Wednesday. And today's snapshot falls under the don't try this at home category. Actually it's more like don't try this on the road. But rest assured that I was not near any other vehicles and I was traveling at a safe speed. And I also just couldn't resist the view.

This was on our way home on Monday afternoon from our Pocono camping trip. And yes I was pulling the camper when I shot it. But to share a secret the camera (phone) was mounted so I wasn't holding it.

Welcome To The Tuesday View

Today was back to work after a three day weekend. And those three days just seemed to have flown by. But at least it didn't rain today. Well not until this evening that is. And speaking of rain I mentioned in yesterday's post that during our camping trip we got a whole lot of it. But it did clear up enough on Sunday to grab a few shots at a lake near our campground. And today I am sharing one of them. This is just one view I snapped as we enjoyed a quick stop at West Emerald Lake.
