Wednesday View - 28 February 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I was looking through Sunday's photos today and came across today's view. In fact it is what inspired me to shoot some of the "signs of Spring" that I have shared this week. I was filling the Cafe feeders and as I was heading toward the house from the back of our yard I saw this and just needed to shoot it. Don't know why really. I guess I just like feathers.

Tuesday View - 27 February 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View.

Today we come down out of space where we saw the Moon yesterday and land in a much more familiar place. Today we visit the Garden Cafe. Well we see it today but I actually shot this on Sunday. And it's a Two For Tuesday of sorts. While this is only one photo it has two squirrels.

I am not kidding when I tell you that I did not see the squirrel on the left when I shot this. I was concentrating on the climber and had to be quick. It wasn't until I reviewed a bunch of Sunday's work today that I saw him.

Monday View - February 26, 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Well the rain has paused for a bit and though we are not what I would call dried out things are a little less swampy right now. I was even able to do some yard work when I got home this afternoon. It is so nice having daylight to work in. As I was bagging up some debris that I raked from under our bushes I noticed how clear the Moon was in the sky. And seeing as I haven't done a moonshot recently I figured this would be a good time. So I grabbed my camera and tripod, set up in our front yard and shot several frames. I like to mix it up and use many different settings to see what works best. Most of the shots were clear but I think this one came out pretty good.

This could use perhaps a little more detail but at least it is clear and pretty much grain free after cropping. I really need a longer lens. I just can't justify it at the moment. But i'm working on it.

Sunday View - 25 February 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View.

This squirrel seems to be asking the same thing a lot of us are. "When oh when will the damp, rainy weather end?". Maybe it's me but the pattern seems to go like this. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we get fairly mild and dry weather. Then comes Thursday through the weekend. Clouds, rain and blech!

But I do hold out some hope. Spring is definitely on it's way. More and more signs are popping up every day. Like these tulips in our front garden that I noticed today.

So we just need to hang on a little longer. Then we can complain about the heat :)

Saturday View - 24 February 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's another rainy day here in the lower northeast and another day that I didn't get out to shoot. Well I did get a few frames done at home before the rain started but nothing like I wanted to do. But it was better than nothing. And what I shot gave me a little hope. It was a reminder that Spring really is around the corner. A reminder that all of the rain we are getting now will bring us new flowers and plush lawns.

Today I share with you a closeup of our azalea bush. It doesn't have flowers quite yet but it will very soon.

Welcome to The Exploration Photography Daily View.

It's finally bloomed! The orchid that I have been sharing for the past week or so has a flower. Just one so far but there's a lot of buds and soon they will all open. I just hope our other orchids do as well.

I shot this hand held this afternoon after work. Next time I'll set upon a tripod and get some clearer pics.

Throwback Thursday - 22 February 2018 Edition

Welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View.

Today's throwback takes us to Atlantic City New Jersey on Monday February 22, 2016. The scene is made up of a couple of my favorite things. One, the Atlantic City waterfront along the Absecon Inlet and of course birds. In this case seagulls. This shot was the result of a little luck in being at the right place at the right time and being prepared. Looking back I also think I knew what I was going for in a photo because for a while we sat in the car watching seagulls taking off and others landing. And I love the challenge of trying to catch nature in motion.

Wednesday View - 21 February 2018 Edition

I post today's photo as I sit in my home office with the windows open on this very mild Winter evening. The temperatures made it to around 81° F (about 27° C) today. It sure feels like Spring at the moment but I think we'll still get a little more snow this season.

Speaking of snow Today's photo shows the little bit we got last weekend. All in all it totaled around 2 inches around here but by Sunday morning when I shot this it had already warmed up enough to start melting it. And by the next day there wasn't any sign that it had snowed at all.

Tuesday View - 20 February 2018 Edition

Welcome to the Daily View.

On Sunday morning I headed out into our yard as I usually do to tend the Cafe and of course let Schnitzel run a little. The snow from Saturday evening had ended and left the ground covered nicely. Of course I shot a picture or two (wink wink) but I am not sharing any just yet. Well okay, today's photo does have a bit of visible snow but it's not the star of the image. No, the star is really a star. Our Sun that is. While this is not a sunrise shot it is an early morning shot. Here is a view from our backyard.

Click For Full Size Image

Maybe tomorrow I'll post a real snow scene. Oh by the way, today we reached a temperature of around 73° F (24° C) (296° K or those into Kelvin). There is no sign that it snowed.

Welcome to the Daily View

Yesterday I shared our Amaryllis that has once again began to bloom after several months of dormancy. Today I am sharing another house plant that has also decided to awaken from a shorter period of hibernation. This is the same plant I shared with you a week or so ago but now it is much further along. You may not be able to tell from this close up but it seems our Orchid is about to show us it's flowers.

Maybe it's the lighting, the composition or even the change of lens used but I really like this better than my earlier attempts. It's probably a combination of all three. But I think the lens had a lot to do with it.

Sunday View - 18 February 2018 Edition

Welcome to the Daily View.

Like the new header? I just thought it was time to do a  little blog tune-up. I have some more things in mind but we can't rush these things. You'll see them little by little though.

So we got some snow overnight. About 2 inches around here. This morning everything was snow covered. But then as the day went on it slowly melted away and now there is very little left. Not even on the grass. And I'd say in about a day or so it will be as if it never happened. Not bad if you ask me. I shot a lot of snow pics and you know I'll be sharing them this week. But not today. Today I am sharing something from our indoor plant collection. It's been a while since it's bloomed. Many months in fact. But here is our quick growing Amaryllis. I say quick growing because it was about a quarter of this size just two days ago and by the end of the week it will probably be at least twice this size.

That bud in the foreground just appeared a couple days ago and the leaves about five days ago. And before that it was simply dormant. But I knew it would eventually bloom.

Welcome To The Saturday View

Today I had planned on getting out and doing some shooting. I had a few ideas but as it turns out I didn't do any of them. We just ran out of daylight after our errands were run. And then on our way home from the supermarket it started to snow. As we drove home I noticed how cool the light from the streetlamps looked as the snow fell in front of them. And then I remembered a snapshot I had made one evening last year while Kim and I walked our dog around our neighborhood. There was a little fog that evening and the streetlamp around the corner from us looked pretty cool surrounded by it. Put one and one together and it equals me walking around the corner with my phone this evening and creating an updated version of that very scene. And here it is. And it sure was a slippery walk.

Click For Full Size Image

I did some very minor adjustments including converting it to black and white. There really wasn't much color anyway aside from a slight yellowish glow from the lamp. Oh and on a side note I made an official measurement of the snow about fifteen minutes ago and we got about an inch and a half so far.

Welcome To The Friday View

For today's view I am sharing a couple more cars from last weekend's car show in Atlantic City. And these are two of my favorites. The first is a 1970 (What a great year!) Plymouth Roadrunner "Superbird". It always sticks out in a crowd. And what a bargain at a mere $169,000.00 .

And here is a slightly modified version of the 1973 edition of my all time favorite. The Plymouth Barracuda. Known simply as the 'Cuda in this body style. This one was probably originally a 340 Cubic Inch version but the owner has installed a modern 5.7 liter Hemi V8.

Welcome To The "Throwback Thursday" View

Today's throwback goes back to February 15, 2015 and is one of my favorite subjects. Orchids. Well one orchid at least. This was one of our many and one that we had for about four years. It did very well but unfortunately we no longer have it. But we do have it forever in this and many photos. Take a look and be sure to Click Here for the original article.
