Welcome To The Monday View

For today's photo we step away from Atlantic City and head right out to our back yard on Saturday morning. While snapping some shots I grabbed this really cool couple of Bluejays. Not my best work but the composition is good.

I also have a video I would like to share. And actually we take a step back to Atlantic City and to the Tropicana Casino to enjoy some fireworks. During the Summer the Tropicana Casino puts on a Saturday night fireworks show at 10 PM. It's always a good time and best of all it's free!

Welcome To The Sunday View

Kim and I are back from Atlantic City and man do I have some cool stuff to share! And seeing as today was quite a long one I would like to get right to it. Sound good? Good!

This is this mornings sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean and Absecon Inlet located at the north end of Atlantic City and south (just) of Brigantine New Jersey.

Okay, if you are wondering why this is so dark it is because I made it that way. The original that you will see below is a lot brighter. I simply used a bit of artistic license so I could convey just how dramatic the original scene was in person. I will be posting a more accurate version later this week.

Welcome To The Friday View

Today's photo is yet another from the archives. I have very, very deep archives. And there is a lot in there that is worthy of sharing here. But that's not to say i won't have anything new coming your way. I will, real soon. But for now please enjoy this daisy (I think) from Longwood Gardens. In full color.

Welcome to The Thursday View

Today I continued to go through the archives to see if there was anything I wanted to take a second look at. And I found a few things. And for today's photo I would like to share one with you. It is a shot of one of the waterfalls at Longwood Gardens. I know I have probably shared similar images in the the past but I really like the way this one turned out. Except like a few recent shots I can't decide if I like the color version or the black and white better. So once again I present both to you. And you can be the judge of which you like better.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

Today's photo is a combination of three kinds of images that I have been posting a lot of recently. It is a snapshot (snapshot+ because there was some editing done), it is black and white and it is something I pulled from the archives. A trifecta of sorts.

This is a shot of the dilapidated portion of the Atlantic City New Jersey Boardwalk. And that bench you see has been there for I don't know how many years. And through all of the storms and high winds the ages have brought it that old bench is still sitting there almost defiantly. I wonder what will become of it when the new Boardwalk is constructed?

Kind of a Film Noir look huh?

Welcome To The Tuesday View

Today's photo is an experiment in creativity. And it's a snapshot. Well a "snapshot plus" I guess. Because while it was made with my camera phone I did do some tweaking. Mainly a bit of cropping and adjustments to it's brightness and contrast. And I did remove the color. This is one of those scenes that needs to be viewed in black and white.

This was from about a month ago. It is our side bedroom window. And as I was getting up one morning I just had to capture the moment. I hope you can see in it what I do.

Welcome To The Monday View

Today's photo is going to be a continuation of my backyard adventures yesterday morning. Well maybe not adventures so much as just a nice quiet time to enjoy nature. And my camera of course.

Here we take a close look at what was once a flower on one of our dogwood trees.

Also, Here's a bonus video.

As I was putting today's post together Kim came in from out back and told me a storm was rolling in. And man did it ever! So what else would I do but grab a camera and record a good portion of it?

I shot this with my GoPro Hero 5 Black. It is actually the first video I have made taking advantage of it's waterproof claim. And I am here to tell you that it sure is. I sat this camera on our deck railing for more than 17 minutes and it took all the rain mother nature could throw at it. I can sure see this new GoPro being very useful when we travel to the shore.

As with all of my videos this is best viewed in 1080P and at full screen.

Welcome To The Sunday View

As with many Sundays I was up early today and found myself in our back yard (aka The Cafe) filling feeders and cleaning up a bit. And just like last Sunday I thought it would be a good time to set up my camera and do some video. And I did just that. Except there was one tiny problem. Taking my camera gear from the nice, cool and dry environment inside our house into a rather damp and humid outside environment caused the attached lens to fog up a bit. So I wiped in with a clean cloth and thought it would be clear. Well it wasn't. And out of about a half hour of video I got about a minute of usable material. And although that minute is very good I also captured a lot of good stuff that is fogged out. Oh well, at least it wasn't a wash. Now how about today's photo?

When I was done doing my video work I was feeling a bit artistic. And I had an idea to do some close ups of some of the plants and trees in our yard. I have done this before but as always I wanted to do just a little bit better this time around. And I think I did okay. So for today's photo I would like to share two photos with you. The same subject and actually the same exact frame. Just one in color and one in black and white. If you would be so kind I would love it if you told me which you like better.

Welcome To The Friday View

While watering our house plants this week it dawned on me that there is one that I have never shared with you. So for today's photo I am going to correct that. Here is a shot of our small pot of succulents. And speaking of arid weather plants I think I will add a cactus to our collection. But for now check this out.

Welcome To The Thursday View

Hi and welcome my friends!

I have been going over folder upon folder of images this evening to choose what to use for today's photo. It's been a bit tough this week because I have been adjusting to a new work schedule. But as time goes on everything should balance out. And to tell the truth it's not really that bad. The hours are a little longer but I still have weekends off. And for that I am grateful. But back to the photo.

After browsing through my archives I came across a shot I made at the Pawling's Farm section of Valley Forge National Park that caught my eye. I remember that when I shot it my idea was to use the trees to kind of frame am image of the open field. But after some cropping and color adjustment it looked like it needed something. Or maybe it didn't.

What it didn't need was the color. And I removed it so I could share this black and white scene with you.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

Hi there folks. Today's photo is another snapshot. Sort of. As you know I tend to share a quick snapshot when I am running short on time or basically just had a long day of work or running around. But that is not the case today.

There is a common saying that the best camera is the camera you have with you. And that was very much true while I was driving to work this morning. I was at a stop sign at the end of our street and I was presented with a simply beautiful sunrise. Fortunately it was early and there was no traffic so I was able to snap a few shots. I would also like to note that I did do some minor adjustments which is something I don't usually do with a snapshot. So here is today's sunrise.

Not my best work but not my worst. And I did it with the best camera. The one I had with me.

Hi there friends. I know the week is young but it sure has been a busy one so far. So for today's photo I am digging into the archives and sharing a snapshot. This is one of the creeks that runs through the Norristown Farm Park. A State Park that is located close to us.

Today I am sharing another flower from our garden. And I could use some help identifying it. Or at least the tree that it is growing on. I think I may have posted the same type of flower previuosly a long while back. But I am not 100% sure. But regardless here is today's photo.
