Kim spotted this while we were in our pool yesterday. I think it's a Robin's nest because there is one that hovers around this area and I saw it on the nest at one point. I don't know if there are any eggs in it and I don't want to disturb it to find out.

Hi all! How was your weekend? It's Sunday and that means that in addition to my Daily View I also have a "fuller' post for you. And today it is full of squirrels! Well actually it's full of photos of squirrels. Six photos to be precise. These were shot over a couple of days this past week. So grab some peanuts and have a look.
A few weeks ago we had two squirrels that would come around and eat at the 'cafe". Then I started putting out peanuts and it turned into three and now four that show up almost daily. It's a good thing I found a good price on them huh? And it's getting to the point that a couple of them will come up close to me. In a few weeks I'm sure they will come right up to me.
I also have a video for your viewing enjoyment. And it features none other than the world famous "Avian (and squirrel) cafe". Well famous in my world at least. And you can see it at the link below.

Today I would like to share a couple more photos from our trip to Longwood Gardens on Saturday. This first one is a shot of the Italian Water garden.
And here is a panorama of the lake on the other side of the water garden. It was created using three separate frames that were merged using Adobe Bridge and adjusted in Photoshop.
And now what day would be the same without one of my bird photos? I shot this after work today in our front yard.
And before I go I of course have a video to share. Here we have a very busy day at the cafe. I'm not kidding. There was a lot of birds.

They say April showers bring May flowers. Well if that is true then we should have enough flowers to cover the entire planet! Now I realize that is a bit of an exaggeration but we sure did get a lot of rain very quickly. And we are supposed to get more tonight but it sure doesn't look like it. But you never know. I truly believe that meteorology is partly based on guesswork. after all, who can really say what nature has in mind?
Now I usually save any videos for the end of my post but I would like to place a link for today's at the beginning. Why? Because the day started out with heavy rain and this video was filmed in that rain. This particular camera has a water proof case so I was able to grab some footage of what else, the Avian Cafe. When I got home from work the rain had cleared away and I was able to photograph some of our budding garden.
Here we have a couple shots of our Hosta.
And here's a couple of our Rhododendron.
And you know I have to sneak a bird in too right? Actually this is several birds lined up on top of our Arborvitaes.
And there you have it. My rainy day update. Now maybe we can dry out and let places that need the rain have it. Can you hear me California?

During our Spring yard cleanup yesterday we also put in a few fresh flowers. We usually plant vincas in our deck boxes in the back of the house but decided to change it up this year and bought some geraniums instead. I hope they are as hardy in the hot sun. The deck faces south and the sun hits it all day.
Some of the flowers are at full bloom.
And there are also lot of buds.
There is still a lot to do but I think we made a good start. There should be a lot more flowers to share in future posts but for now let me finish this post with a video of my "Avian Cafe" this afternoon.

Yesterday I mentioned that I "kind of" run an avian restaurant. Today I would like to show you what seems to be the popular eatery amongst our local feathered friends and happens to be in our yard.
Here we have six of our numerous diners. Everyone seems satisfied. Now if I could only get them to tip.

About a week a go I bought a new "toy" for my camera. An RF remote shutter release. With it I can set up on a tripod and shoot without touching the camera. The advantage to the RF (Radio) as opposed to IR (Infra Red) is that I don't have to have a direct view of the receiver. This way I can set up and be as far as 60 meters away. It works great with the camera outside and me inside. And that is what I did to shoot today's photo.
I set up the camera on a tripod and aimed it at our bird feeder. I then went inside and watched out the kitchen window for birds to arrive. Well birds did arrive. But I ended up photographing...
A squirrel!
I need to work on the camera settings a little to get a sharper image but I don't think this came out bad. I'm sure I could never have gotten this pose if I were out there scaring all of the wildlife away.
I hope to use this new "toy" a lot more. It was a great investment for $18.95 (with shipping) on Amazon. And the possibilities are almost endless.
