Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

As we wrap up the month of March I would like to wish my beautiful wife Kim the happiest birthday ever. I Love you Baby, you are the best :)

Looking over the past few years that I have been writing this blog it seems that it has been a tradition for me to post a picture of the flowers I buy Kim for her birthday every year. To continue that tradition here is a picture of the roses I gave her this year.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's really starting to feel like Spring around here my friends and it can't come soon enough for me. The grass is starting to grow and a lot of our bulbs are blooming and best of all there is daylight for a couple hours when I get home from work. And more sunlight means more opportunity for me to get outside and shoot. I took advantage of this yesterday and got some nice shots of one of our Cafe regulars. So for today's view I would like to share one with you.

Throwback Thursday View - 29 March 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback takes us back to March 29, 2015 in Ocean City Maryland. The subject is by far my favorite though I haven't shot it in a while. But I think today's post may inspire me to get out there early one morning to greet everyone's favorite star. Our Sun.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today we continue our Saturday journey through Valley Forge. And that journey takes us along this rather scenic path. One of many the park has to offer and one that is not as heavily traveled. Nice if you want a little peace and quiet.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

As I am sitting here trying to think of something to say about today's photo I am drawing a complete blank. There is nothing special about it except that when I saw it I knew I needed to shoot it. I suppose it's the shadows that got my attention or perhaps the reflection. Mostly though I was having fun and isn't that what it's all about. So enjoy and let me know what you think if you like.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's view is actually two views. Two snapshots that I made when Kim and I stopped by Nor View Farm in King of Prussia on Saturday. Nor View used to be a working dairy farm but hasn't operated as such for many years. The township bought the property and maintains it as a public park. There is a petting farm, an ice cream shop and a garden center. And of course there is the spring water stand where you bring your own jugs and for a small fee can fill up on fresh artesian well water.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Before I get to today's photo I would like to go on record and say that I never again go on record about this years snowfall. Yesterday I said the snow was done for the season and what does it do today? It snowed. Admittedly it wasn't much to speak of but just the fact that mother nature felt it necessary to throw one more in there is adding insult to injury. Come on Spring where are you?

Now, for today's photo I am sharing another view from our brief visit to "the other side" of Valley Forge yesterday. It's another shot of the dilapidated greenhouse only from a wider angle. I almost decided to do this one in color but just couldn't. Color would have cluttered it and taken away from it in a way. I think the black and white let's you concentrate on the subject without distraction. What do you think?

Saturday View - 24 March 2018 Edition

Welcome to The Exploration Photography Daily View

I am going on record and saying that we are done with snow for the season. I mean we have to be right? It's almost April after all. Today's weather was rather nice. It made it into the low 50's and the sun was shining. Most of the snow from last week's storm is gone and the ground is even drying up. Before you know it we will be complaining about the heat.

Today I was able to work in a short trip to Valley Forge and shoot some frames. But this time I went to what I call the "other side" of the park. I have shared photos from there before but not a lot. And though I have previously shared other versions of today's view I think this one is better than all of them.

I always shoot this in black and white and can't really "see" it any other way. Maybe I will do a color version some day but I don't think so.

Friday View - 23 March 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

To wrap up the work week I am sharing our amaryllis at full bloom. It's about a foot and a half high or so and has four big flowers. I hope the flowers last for a while because once they go it will probably be about a year until we see them again. But it will be worth the wait. This plant never ceases to amaze me. I bought the bulb kit four or five years ago and didn't plant it until about a year later. I never expected it to grow. But I am thankful it did.

Wednesday View - 21 March 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Well it seems as if Mother Nature had one last storm left over and she served it to us today. It is the second day of Spring and here we are with about six inches of snow on the ground. And it's still snowing. It shouldn't accumulate much more though. So as usual we do what we have to do and we get out our shovels and snowblowers and clear the way so we can go about our business. And as usual too I made time to get out my camera and shoot some of the really nice scenery that was created by the otherwise annoying storm. Photos like this one.

This is one of our dogwood trees. Hopefully when the snow melts off it's branches we will see some leaves and the warm weather that goes along with them.

The pictures pretty much say it all. Just when I thought we were done with snow for the season we get this on the first day of Spring and are expecting up to 12 inches tomorrow. At least it will make for some nice pictures I guess.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today I am sharing another shot from Peace Valley Park. This time we are shifting back to the bird blind and another one of my up close and personal views. This cardinal would eat and fly away and return again for another bite of food. I was about five feet away from her. It was so cool. I need to build a blind in our backyard.

The quality is not what I would like it to be but again I did not have a longer lens with me and had to do some cropping. Next time though I'll be more prepared.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today we continue our photographic visit to Peace Valley Park. Shifting away from wildlife though we take a look at Lake Galena from the point of view of one of the park's boat docks.

Sometimes I'll look at a RAW image and think that it would be great in black and white. Then there are the images that I plan and shoot for black and white. This is one that I knew right away needed it's color removed.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's been a while but today I finally got to go out and shoot somewhere besides in our own backyard. Not that I'm complaining about the wonderful and very plentiful nature that I have right here at home but some variety is nice too. And best of all it was someplace we have never been to before.

Today Kim and I headed to Peace Valley Park near Doylestown Pennsylvania in Bucks County. With my camera in hand we walked along Lake Galena where we saw lots of geese, some seagulls and a variety of other wildlife. After visiting the lake we drove to the parks nature center. The nature center houses an activity center and a nice gift shop. But best of all it also has a really nice bird blind. In the blind we were able to see birds at a very close range and of course photograph them. There was a good variety too. We saw bluejays, cardinals, finches and a couple different kinds of woodpeckers in addition to other breeds too. I just wish I had been better prepared. When we went out this morning I had fitted my camera with a lens that only zooms to 55mm. This is great for landscapes but not so much for wildlife. But I did get some good shots and for today's view I would like to share this one with you.

This red bellied woodpecker (I know it's belly isn't red but that's a subject for another post) was shot from quite a distance and I had to crop it a lot. But I think it came out okay. Next time I'll bring a longer lens.
