Exploration Photography Daily View - September 30, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

All week I have been sharing photos from Longwood Gardens. Particularly flowers. But how about some scenery? Okay, here you go.

This is a path in the Meadow Garden. One of many. I find that this time of year is perfect for walking the meadows because the bugs are not bad and the moderate temperatures make it much more comfortable than during the peak of Summer. Hopefully we'll make it there a few more times before Winter sets in.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Keeping with my current theme, Longwood Gardens, I would like to share another flower with you today.

Check out those buds too!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 28, 2015

Hi there and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View!

Well here we are at another Monday and the beginning of a new work week. And with one in the books with four to go what better to do than to reminisce about the weekend? As you may know Kim and I visited one of our favorite destinations Longwood Gardens. Longwood is a nature photographers dream come true and we are fortunate enough to be about a half hour or so away. And it has many varieties of one of my favorite flowers. The Daisy. Daisies have a very simplistic beauty. And they are very photogenic if you ask me. So for today's photo I present you with this daisy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 27, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Wow did this weekend go fast or what? But overall it was a good weekend around here so I am thankful for that.

Tonight I was hoping to share a photo of the "Blood Moon" with you but the cloudy skies here say different. And not only are we having a blood moon but also a total lunar eclipse. But hey, I'll get another chance in 2033. Only 18 short years away and I'll be a very youthful 63 years old. For now however I'll have to settle for sharing this moonshot with you.

This is from last night. I wasn't able to get a clear shot but I think the clouds give it a nice ambiance.

Before I go I also have a short video I'd like to show you. This is the praying mantis from yesterday's post.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 26, 2015

Hi and welcome to a very late Daily View!

Well it's not late quite yet but it is sure getting close so I better get right to it.

Kim and I took a drive down to Longwood Gardens today and wow was it a great day to walk the gardens. The weather was perfect and the crowds were small. Just the way I like it! So anyhow we made our way to the Meadow Garden and as we were walking along I looked down and saw this guy.

Camouflage in nature is meant to protect but in this case it almost killed this particular praying mantis. It's a really good thing I was watching where I was walking because I just happened to see him and just missed stepping on him. I am happy to say that he made it safely into the brush.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 25, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Friday edition of the Daily View! Yeah it's pretty much like the Saturday through Thursday editions except that I really like Friday. But... I do have some changes planned for Friday posts and I hope to implement them soon. So stay tune :)

And now for today's photo. In our front garden near the "cafe" we have a rhododendron. Every year at the end of Summer as the flowers fall off it grows what will be buds for next years flowers. And this year is no different. Except that it seems like the buds are trying to bloom already. I'm not certain this is what's happening but have a look.

I hope that if it does bloom that I still get flowers next year. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for stopping by my friends!

Until next time...

P.S. There's just three months 'til Christmas!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 24, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Today I have something for you from the cafe. And apparently these birds know I have something for them too! They are waiting in readiness for me to leave them alone to eat. Just a sampling of our many satisfied customers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 23, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View! And welcome to the first day of Autumn!

I have to say that while I like this time of year and the cooler more comfortable temperatures I also know what's just around that corner. I suppose it's the price we must pay for a climate that is really pretty good overall. But still...

Okay enough of the weather. Today I would like to show you the Japanese House from our weekend trip to West Fairmount Park.

And yes it is as calm and serene as it looks.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 22, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Today I would like to share another photo from our weekend trip to West Fairmount Park. It's another shot from the Horticultural Center and it is a Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia).

Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon. I should have some photos from the Japanese House real soon.

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 21, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

As I thought about what I would like to share with you today it occurred to me that I it's been a little while since I shared one of our resident squirrels. Well as luck would have it I had my camera in hand when this little guy came around looking for peanuts yesterday morning.

I am happy to say that I keep plenty of peanuts on hand and my friend here ate very well. Oh all of our wildlife eats very well around here.

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 20, 2015

Hi there and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View!

Today Kim and I took a drive to West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia and visited the Shofuso Japanese House and Garden. Another local destination that I never even heard of until about a week or so ago. Shofuso, a gift from Japan to the Citizens of The United States, is built on the site of the 1876 centennial celebration and is a symbol of post war peace between our two nations. You can read more about it here and here. Of course I got lot's of photos that I will be sharing but for today I am presenting to you a shot I got while at a different location within Fairmount Park. After the Japanese House we took a short walk over to the Horticultural Center and saw this.

Talk about a lucky shot!

Though my photos from the Japanese House are not ready I do have a pretty cool video to share from the Japanese Garden. This is Kim feeding the Koi in of course the Koi Pond.

As always this is best viewed at full screen and in 1080P.

Thanks for stopping by my friends!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 19, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Saturday night edition of the Daily View!

A couple weeks back I shared a "full post" from a recent trip to Longwood Gardens. I have been working on another but am not quite ready but I do have a few that I would like to share on their own. So today I would like to show you this.

As we were walking along this lone leaf caught my eye and I knew I had to photograph it. No particular reason I just liked it. I hope you like it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 18, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Well I wanted to wrap up last weekends trip yesterday but I also said there may be one more photo today. And indeed I would like to share one more. Except this is not from Virginia Beach. On our way home we made a stop in one of our favorite vacation destinations. Ocean City Maryland. It was a short stop over but I managed to grab some shots while we were there. And today I share this one with you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 17, 2015

Hi my friends and welcome to the Daily View!

Wow did this week fly by! And as the week wraps up I would like to wrap up our trip to Virginia Beach this past weekend. So today I would like to share one more photo (and maybe one more tomorrow) from our trip home on Monday.

The trip back north includes a drive over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel which includes of course many miles of bridge and two tunnels. Well right before the first tunnel there is a place to pull off the road and park to enjoy the view, go fishing and grab a bite to eat. And while enjoying the view I saw this Rock Dove (Pigeon) hanging out ironically on some rocks.

Kind of an odd pose but I suppose he was comfortable.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back soon. I am working on some videos that I think you may like.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 16, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View!

Continuing with our trip to Virginia Beach this past weekend I would like to share an absolutely beautiful sunset from Sunday night. As the Sun went down in the west it left it's mark in the east in the way of the most incredible reds and oranges that I have seen in a while. As much as I love the way this came out it was even better being there to enjoy it in person.

And to help you experience this wonderful moment I share with you a short video. As usual it is best viewed at full screen and in 1080P.

Thanks so much for stopping by my friends.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 15, 2015

Anyone who knows me or has been reading my blog for the past year or so knows that any trip to the shore requires the obligatory seagull photo. And this past weekend is no exception. So for your viewing pleasure I present you with this.

I shot this on the fishing pier along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Which by the way is kind of an attraction itself. Check out this website and the one above for more information.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 14, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

I was a little uncertain this morning about the sunrise. There were clouds at the horizon and it looked like I may not be able to get a good shot. I wasn't able to see the Sun as it first rose above the ocean but as it turns out I was able to get a great shot of it peeking through the clouds. Even better if you ask me!

I am zoomed in very tightly on his shot so the reds really come through. You can't see a lot of the ocean but you can however see the Sun's reflection along with that of some of the clouds.

Thanks for stopping by my friends and please be sure to come back soon. I have a lot of good stuff to share.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 13, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

When I got up this morning I fully intended on shooting a beautiful sunrise over the ocean. Well mother nature had other ideas and decided to cloud over the sky. But I still go a couple of good photos and today I would like to share one with you. So here is the closest I could get to a sunrise.

I may not have a great sunrise for you but rest assured I have some awesome evening photos and some great video. Please stay tuned!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 12, 2015

Hi and welcome to today's Exploration Photography Daily View!

Well it's been pretty cloudy here in Virginia but we are making the most of it. Luckily there is lot's to do and the scenery is really nice. And I still hope to get that sunrise. But today I would like to share a photo I shot this morning of the ocean. The waves look a little rough but were actually not that bad.

That's all for now folks. But I'll be back soon. Please be sure to stop by again! And check out my mobile blog at this link.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 11, 2015

Hi there and welcome to the Daily View! And welcome to the weekend!

Kim and I are in Virginia Beach Virginia this weekend for kind of a last Summertime hurrah. Though if I have anything to say about it we will try to squeeze a few more in. And wow what a drive. It took us about five and a half hours but it was really not a bad trip.

So for today's photo I would like to share a shot from the beach just outside of our hotel.

After we checked in at the hotel and got settled we took a drive to get dinner. As we were waiting out front of the restaurant for our table I saw this come down the street.

There is a Shriner's convention in town and this group was getting ready for a parade tomorrow. And as it turns out they are from Reading Pennsylvania which of course is close to where we live.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stay tuned! I hope to share some cool stuff.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 9, 2015

Hi there and welcome to the Daily View!

Today I would like to share another shot from Valley Forge over the weekend. Like I said yesterday it really was a mini photo shoot and I didn't come away with a lot but I think I captured few good ones from that day. And as with any trip I make to Valley Forge I did spend some time photographing my "favorite" tree.

Click For Larger View
I have worked with this particular composition before both in color and monochrome. And each time I think I get a little closer to what I want to present but it still seems to be an ongoing project. And that's okay. After all what would I do if I achieved perfection? There wouldn't be anything to work toward. That wouldn't be any fun would it?

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 8, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View!

I hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day holiday yesterday and were able to take advantage of some extra time off. I spent the morning at Valley Forge on a mini photo shoot. For about the first five or ten minutes there was some dense fog and I was able to capture this beautiful scene.

And right after I shot this the fog lifted the sky brightened and we had a very sunny day.

Thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 7, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Where does an 800 pound Gorilla sit? Wherever he wants of course!

And apparently this one at the Philadelphia Zoo wants to sit under some kind of old sheet or something. I'm sure not telling him he can't!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Waterlilies Of Longwood

Hi my friends! Well it's been a long time since my last "full post". This has been such a busy Summer and I have just not been able to find the time. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact I have been able to build up a lot of raw material to share with you over the cooler and not so busy months.

But now for today's post. As you may know Kim and I spent the better part of Saturday at one of my favorite spots. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Pennsylvania. Longwood never fails to provide some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. And today I would like to share some of it with you.

The several photos that follow were shot at one of my favorite parts of Longwood. The Waterlily Garden. And I think you will like Kthem. It was one of those days that I just felt like I was "on". Know what I mean? Well anyhow here you go. Enjoy!

And there you have it. The Waterlily Garden. And that's not all. I have a few more large posts that I am working on. I hope to get them to you soon. Plus some new stuff I think will be pretty cool. As they say stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to be on the lookout for today's Daily View. It should be up soon!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 6, 2015

Hi and welcome to a late edition of the Daily View!

It really is getting late so this is going to be quick. Yesterday I shared a photo of a Dragonfly I shot at Longwood Gardens and today I would like to share this with you.

How's that for a closeup? And I was close. probably four or five inches away. I am amazed I wasn't stung. guess he was too busy to notice me.

And that's it for today folks!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 5, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

Today Kim and I took a drive to one of our favorite places. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Pennsylvania. If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that I love to photograph Longwood. From the great wide open views and the abundance of flowers and nature to the fountains and many specialized gardens there is just so much to see and record. And today's visit was a virtual treasure trove of opportunity. I have so much to share that I am still working out how I want to present it to you. I think there may be a few larger posts coming soon. But for today's photo I would like to share this with you.

The Waterlily Garden was loaded with Dragonflies. Specifically blue ones. You wouldn't know it from this photo but they are actually rather small. By luck and a little patience I was able to snap several of this guy (or girl? I really don't know). He looks white but that's just the sunshine. He is definitely blue.

As I said I have a lot to share and am working out how but for now I would like to leave you with this video. It is the same scene that I posted yesterday.

As usual I recommend viewing at Full Screen and in HD. And be sure to turn up the volume and enjoy the sounds of nature. It's a bit subtle but it's there.

And now I must go but I'll be back real soon. I hope to see you here!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 3, 2015

Hi there friends and welcome to the Exploration Photography Daily View!

All week I have been sharing photos from our recent trip to the Fairmount Park area of Philadelphia. And I still have lots to share. But something came to mind today. I haven't posted any squirrels for a while. And this afternoon I was in our front yard and here was this little guy resting on a stone enjoying a snack.

Please excuse the trash can in the background and thanks for stopping by!

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 2, 2015

For today's Daily View I would like to share another photo from our trip to Fairmount Park this past Saturday. This time I aim in the other direction and present to you Boathouse Row.

I would have loved to shot this at night with the houses lit up but we would have had to wait hours. Maybe this Autumn or Winter I'll give it a try.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - September 1, 2015

Hi there and welcome to the Daily View!

Well September is here and that means less than a month until we leave Summer behind and enter the Autumn season. While I do love Autumn with it's amazing colors and the holiday season I am really not looking forward to what comes after. That horrible six letter "W" word. I understand fully why people head south for retirement. But that's just a few years off.  Not that I'm complaining. I'm quite happy to be young(ish) and working.

Now getting on subject here I would like to share today's photo. I shot this while walking along the Schuylkill Trail this past Sunday morning. When I came upon this scene it seemed to me that nature framed it very nicely.

Thanks for stopping by my friends!

Until next time...
