Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today in a rare midweek mobile update I am sharing a picture of our dog waiting at the front door to greet Kim as she arrives home from work.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

For today's view I am sharing this squirrel with you. I shot this last week at the Cafe, of course. The little ones are getting to be not so little and before we know it will have little ones of their own. I think by that generation they should be very comfortable with me. I just hope they remain cautious around other people. A necessary defense for them.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's weekend mobile update is being posted from home and the subject is from our trip to the shore. It's actually something from our campsite that hitchhiked home wedged in the side of my truck's hood. Somehow this leaf made the 100+ mile journey without falling off.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

After a weekend off Kim and I finally made it back down the shore and our camper. And of course what goes better with camping than a nice campfire? So for today's photo I am sharing ours with you.

Although Kim and I haven't headed to the shore yet I am posting a mobile update. This is yet another shot of our very popular onion grass. I'm not sure if I shared one with this moth or butterfly or whatever it is before but here you go.

Throwback Thursday View - 26 July 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today we take a look back to July 26, 2015 at the original Cafe. This was a pretty cool bird feeder but a word to the wise, I would never recommend it. The problem is that a bird can get it's head stuck while trying to get to those last couple of seeds. This happened to us on two or three occasions and each time I had to carefully disassemble the feeder to free the frightened bird. Fortunately the bird survived each time. I have since been very careful with my choice of feeders. Please Click Here to see my original post.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Our garden needs a lot of work. Oh I keep it neat and the lawn is always mowed but we really need to get in there and do some weeding and mulching. But the weather here has been very rainy. Off and on. Yesterday it probably rained at least ten different times. It would rain for a bit and then get sunny and hot and then the sky would turn dark and it would rain again. Sometimes it would rain when it was sunny and bright. It's been this way all week. So yard work has been on hold. But as you know I have been spending some time out there. With my camera that is. And while shooting pictures of our squirrels and birds I also shot some of our flowers too. Today I would like to share one of then with you. One that we've been waiting on to bloom. It got to the point where I wasn't sure if we would see it's flowers. But it finally did bloom and it was worth the wait. Here is our hydrangea.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I have mentioned a time or two that the squirrels at the Cafe are becoming less skittish around me. Especially the younger ones. But I have also noticed that some of the birds don't seem to mind my company either. Mostly the bluejays. I guess they figured out where the food comes from. For today's photo I would like to share this guy with you. I shot this in between his peanut runs. Soon after this he grabbed one and flew up into one of our trees. Then he flew down for another and so on.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I'm glad the weekend weather was okay for the most part because now it has become rather rainy. And hot. And humid. Oh and windy too. But I did manage to get out and do a little shooting in the Cafe after work. I fact I shot a good amount of frames over the past few days. During the week I will go through what I got and share some of the good stuff with you. And to start things off I'd like to show you this guy. He is one of the young squirrels born this season.

Sunday View - 22 July 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today on this rare Sunday at home Kim and I decided to take a trip to Elmwood Park Zoo. And instead of taking my DSLR I took advantage of the moment and decided to take my camera phone for a test drive.  I also treated each frame as if I were shooting with film. I think this worked pretty well. None of these images have been edited in any way. Please have a look and if you are so inclined let me know what you think. Oh, and yes I posted this from my phone.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Saturday View - 21 July 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

In the front of our house right outside our front door there is some ornamental onion grass that Kim and I planted sometime last Summer. We used it to replace a plant that we believe to have been eaten by deer. And though I have seen deer in our yard since they seem to be leaving our garden alone. Now I never knew that the the onion grass would flower but it sure has. And let me tell you bees of many variety seem to really be attracted to them. I have seen yellow jackets, bumble bees and even a bee or two that I've never seen before. I've even seen some kind of moth or butterfly (or whatever it is) that I've never seen before. And none of them seem to bother anyone or be attracted to anything but these onion grass flowers. I did share a photo that I shot with my phone last week. Today however I decided to shoot a few frames with my DSLR. I got some good shots though I think I'll give it another try. For now though I would like to share this one with you.

Not bad for a handheld shot. But next time I think I'll use a tripod and remote.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Kim and I are home this weekend. A rare occasion that we are not at the campsite at the shore. But today's post is still in the form of a mobile Update. And this is simply because we are sitting out back enjoying our new gazebo and our beautiful nature filled yard, AKA the Cafe.

I shot this the other morning before heading to work. Every once in a while a leaf will catch my attention. This was one of those moments.

Throwback Thursday View - 19 July 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback takes us to July 19 2015 at Longwood Gardens. We were there to see their "Nightscape" exhibit. Nightscape was a light and sound show setup throughout the gardens. Unfortunately they no longer do this show but at least we got to see it while it was there. Be sure to Click Here to see my original post.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

I've really been playing around with my new phone today. In fact I was shooting photos first thing this morning before work. I continued when I got home this afternoon and am getting the feel for the new features the camera has. It's not completely different from previous Samsung phone cameras but there are some differences. Over time I will get into them a little more and post some of my findings here. For today's photo however I would like to show you something that surprised me today. It was a good surprise too.

This is the dahlia we planted last year. To tell the truth I had forgotten about it and even almost removed it from our garden. When I was doing some weeding I wasn't sure what it was but decided to leave it be. I am glad I did.

Tuesday View - 17 July 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today I am sharing another shot from my new phone. Overall we have been pretty busy around the house and I have not had a lot of time to get out to shoot. But I hope to in the near future. In the meantime I can keep experimenting with my new toy and share some of it here.

I made this last night and touched it up just a bit in Photoshop. Minor adjustments really. So I guess it can be considered a "snapshot+.
