I shared a similar image earlier this year but identified it incorrectly. At the time I said this was a Northern Flicker Woodpecker. But have since discovered it to be a Red Bellied. They are similar though.

You are good! I wouldn't know one woodpecker from another. I really like the solitary bird on the boardwalk. Perhaps the reason you weren't 'attracted' to it at first depended on your mood? Some photos may need to be meditated on.Could it be how you feel could influence your perception?
