Hi there my friends. Today's photo is yet another bird. But this time I am not sure what it is. If you can identify him/her I would appreciate it.

What I can say about these birds is that they are much more trusting than most. I can get pretty close before they fly off. And even when they do they don't go too far. I guess they have been watching me and know where the food comes from. As you can see they are mostly gray with a black streak over their heads and have black tail feathers.

Today's photo is kind of a 180° from yesterday's. It's another bird shot but this time I like the composition better than the actual picture quality. It's just a tad too soft. But I think the picture as a whole is good. I have photographed Bluejays in the past but it's been quite a while. They are rather elusive and do not tend to stay out in the open for too long. But this guy stuck around for me to grab several frames.

Today's photo is a little good and a little 'eh" in my book. The "eh' side is that I am not completely pleased with the composition. I think it is clear enough and definitely bright enough but the framing is a little off. On the good side I captured my first shot of a Northern Flicker Woodpecker. I see a lot of woodpeckers, mostly Downys but the Northern Flicker is a little more rare. So here you have it. A photo first for me. I hope I have the opportunity for more.

I believe this is a male. I know the male Downy has a red head so I'm guessing the Flicker does too.

I was struggling tonight as to what I was going to share with you. Then I happened to look out of our bedroom window. I gazed into the sky and saw a wonderfully clear view of the Moon. And I wasted no time grabbing my camera and tripod and ran outside only to find clouds taking over he sky. But I set up anyway and shot what I could. And I got some good stuff!

It's been a while but today I was up and out early to do some shooting at our local park. Actually it was no big deal because I am always up early and the park is at the end of our street. But it was chilly so that has to count for something, right?

I drive past this park every day on my way to work and often wish I had the time to photograph it. So today I took advantage of the weekend and did just that. Here is a view from under the cover of some trees looking out over the field.

Today I am switching things up a bit. Instead of sharing a photo of one of our cafe guests or some of our plants, flowers or other form of nature I would like to share one of my better "flea market finds" in quite a while. Or in this case a local thrift store.

I am always (and I mean ALWAYS) on the lookout for cameras. Doesn't matter if it is digital or film, newer or older. Though older film is what I like the most.  And I must have somewhere between two and three hundred specimens in my collection. So when I come across a brand I have never heard of let alone seen I jump on it. As long as it's affordable of course. The same goes for unique models from brands I am familiar with. Well today I found one. And aside from a sticky shutter and a minor dent it is in pretty good shape. Especially for its age.

Today for the bargain basement price of just $8.00 I procured this beautiful 1966 Petri Racer.

As with most vintage 35mm Range Finder cameras this one feels awesome in my hands. Though I must admit that I am a sucker for aluminum bodied mechanical cameras. And this one is as solid as they come. It's also the more sought after 45mm F1.8 lens version.

Note the dent at the upper left of the lens. Not a big deal. It's merely cosmetic.

Petri Camera Company. Never heard of them.

Yep. She was last serviced on November 11, 1968. A mere 49 ears ago. That's two years older than me :) But it seems that Comet camera may still be in business at 1209 Walnut Street in Philadelphia.

Cool huh? As soon as I can find a shop that will fix the sticky shutter I will take it out for some field testing. And of course I'll report back to you :) Oh, by the way, this wasn't the only vintage camera I bought today. Wait until you see the other bargain.

Well the rain has come and gone. And we sure did get a lot. I guess some of those "April Showers" decided to hold out until May. When I got home this afternoon and walked to our front door I noticed some rain drops on the daisy in our front garden. So I grabbed my camera and here you go.
