Throwback Thursday View - 12 April 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today's throwback is from April 12, 2016. It's a snapshot made during a trip to Atlantic City New Jersey and is a good representation of the day's weather. Well actually I shot it a couple days earlier during the weekend but you get the idea.

Please Click Here for my original post that includes more snapshots.

Welcome To The Sunday View

To round out a busy weekend I would like to make this a quick post and share a snapshot from Atlantic City from a month or so ago.  This is a rainy day shot of Caesars Palace viewed from the Boardwalk.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

So far this week I have been mostly sharing birds I saw while on the beach in Atlantic City. Today though I would like to share a snapshot I made while observing some low lying fog. The tall building on the left is the now closed Revel Casino. And you can't see the top of it.

Here is a wider shot.

That sure is some fog huh?

Welcome To The Saturday View

... From on the road. Kim and I are in Atlantic City for the night and this is the view from our suite. We are 32 floors up and have a balcony. Something rare here in AC.

I am grabbing some really good shots so keep on the lookout for some of them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome To The Sunday View

For your Sunday View I would like to share a snapshot I took when sitting out back resting up from a hard day of yard work. Looking at this I realize it's all worth it :)

Welcome To The Saturday View

It seems that I have been sharing a lot of snapshots lately. And today I am sharing yet another one. It's not that I haven't been shooting. I have. But I think the quick and easy shots are kind of a nice change once in a while. With that being said let's get to today's photo.

Kim and I have been working hard to build our own "Backyard Oasis". And we're getting close to being done. At least for a little while. After all there's always something to improve upon. Today I finally put out our mini IKEA fire ring. Okay, it's not a ring but you get the idea.

Click For Full Size Image

Let me tell you, this thing works great. It's shaped just right to stack the wood in a way that it breathes and burns nicely. Yeah I know this can be done with a traditional fire ring but what can I say. I'm a bit lazy :) I shot this with my Samsung Galaxy S6. Along with the following video.

Welcome to The Friday View

I was up in the air today as to what to share with you. I have some stuff on my camera that needs processing and then I have some snapshots on my phone that I would like you to see. So taking into consideration that I am just getting to this after 10 PM we are going with the snapshot.

I am not sure if I have posted our dog before. But I just have to post this.

Two things. First, I did buy these nuggets to share with him. And two... Yes, Schnitzel is a very spoiled dog. Hey he deserves a treat every now and then.

Welcome To The Wednesday View

Hi there friends. Today was another busy one. But it seems that things should be calming down here soon. But for now I need to make this quick. For today's photo I would like to share a snapshot from our trip to Longwood Gardens last Saturday.

Straight out of my camera (Samsung Galaxy S6) comes this cool view of part of the Garden's newly renovated main fountain. From the inside obviously.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today's photo is another snapshot. Here is a panoramic view of Sunday morning's sunrise from our recent Atlantic City trip. Well, sort of. As I said the other day I didn't have a good direct view of the sun. I did however capture it indirectly. You can see it shining on the buildings.

As usual I am not sharing technical info being this is a snapshot. I will mention however that I shot this using my phone's panorama setting. I don't usually use it but I think it came out pretty good.

Welcome To The Daily View

Wow! It's getting late and here I am just starting today's post. I guess that means it's going to be a quick one huh? Let's get started then.

Today I am sharing a snapshot of Kim's and my view as we ate dinner at one of our favorite places. A restaurant by the name of "The Cock N' Bull" in Peddler's Village in Lahaska Pennsylvania. About 25 Miles from our home.

As always I am not sharing technical info since this is a snapshot straight out of my camera. In this case my Samsung Galaxy S6.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today was one of those days that I got a lot done but not what I had planned. As such I didn't really shoot at all. So in lieu of that please enjoy our cat Bandit hamming it up for the camera phone.

Welcome To The Daily View

Kim and I have been in our new house for just over four months now. And we are still learning about the area even though we used to live four short miles away. Today for the first time we attended "West Norriton Day". I guess it's really just a day to celebrate the town we live in. Kind of a hometown pride thing that most towns have throughout the country. And like many of those similar celebrations the day ended with a rather nice fireworks show.  But what was really cool was that we were able to view it from the comfort of our own back yard. It was like a front row seat. I guess that's because it took place just a quarter mile away.

Today's photo of course is my attempt to capture some of the show with my camera. In this case my phone.

Click For Full Size Image

Don't mind the power line in the shot. Hey, I said our view was front row. Not perfect :)

Being a "snapshot" I don't think it's necessary to share technical info. I will tell you however that I was using my Samsung Galaxy S6.

I did also shoot some video. It's not bad. I learned a lot about the view though and think the next time will be a lot better.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today's photo can be filed under the category of SOOC or Straight Out Of camera. In other words, a snapshot. This is a nicely manicured garden and pond outside of People's Light Theater in Malvern Pennsylvania. A place Kim and I visit for live stage performances a few times a year.

As usual, I am not sharing technical info because I shot in Full Auto with my camera phone.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today's photo can be filed under the title "SOOC". That means "Straight Out Of Camera". I have so much to share but for now I would like to show you something I found in our front yard and ask if any of you have seen anything like it. We have plenty of dandelions and of course the seed heads that form from them. But I have never seen one like this.

Click For Full Size Image

I shot this with my phone so I will not be posting any technical info. I also did not do any adjustments. I just wonder if anyone else has seen one of these.

Welcome To The Daily View

After weeks of getting used to the New Garden Cafe I think I am finally getting a better feel for it. I'm learning where everyone hangs out and likes to feed and who gets along with who and such. I am also figuring out what times of the day are best to observe and photograph. Today's photo in my opinion is one of my best since our move. I think you'll agree.

Click For full Size Image

This is one of the many Grackles we see every day. I had actually set out to capture a Woodpecker or Cardinal but this guy showed up instead. And that's okay. Everyone needs to eat and as long as there is enough to go around I'm fine with it.

Technical Info

- Canon 80D
- Sigma DC 18-250mm Lens at 128mm
- Shutter Priority
- Aperture F6.30
- Shutter Speed 1/800 Second
- ISO (Film Speed) 400
- Center Weighted Average Metering

As usual I cropped and and adjusted in Photoshop.

Here is the "Before" image.

Click For Full Size Image

But I wasn't just out there with my camera. Today I pulled out my GoPro HERO 5 and captured some really cool video. You squirrel lovers will probably like to fast forward to 5:58 . Or better yet just watch the whole thing. It's a little more than 11 minutes.

As always this video is best viewed at 1080p and at full screen. Oh and turn up the volume for some real sounds of nature.

Welcome To The Daily View

Well folks, the forecast snow has come and pretty much gone. There is a nice coating on the lawns and trees around here but the roads and sidewalks are clear. So for those of you who don't get to enjoy this cold offering from mother nature here is a shot of our back yard.

Click For Full Size Image

Actually this is five shots merged into one using Adobe Bridge alongside Photoshop for cropping and color adjustments. As such I am not sharing a "Before" image.

Technical Info

- Canon 80D
- Sigma DC 18-250mm Lens at 22mm
- Aperture Priority
- Aperture F16
- Shutter Speed 1/50 Second
- ISO (Film Speed) 400
- Center Weighted Average Metering

Since I am not sharing a "Before" image I thought I'd show you a short video from the very beginning of today's snow.

Welcome To The Daily View

This past weekend  I was able to capture some really nice shots right in my own back yard. Literally! Yes we are truly blessed with a lot of nature. Oh we had our share at our previous home but this is just awesome. Today I had a picture in mind to share but as I was out back just checking things out on this rather nice afternoon I saw this view through some of our trees and just needed to use it instead. And here it is, straight out of my camera (phone).

Click For Full Size Image

I shot this with my camera phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6.

Being straight out of my camera there really is no need to post technical info. I shot in Full Auto. I guess you can consider this a snapshot.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today I am sharing another "straight out of camera" shot with you. Except unlike yesterday I did absolutely no post processing.

Welcome To The Daily View

Today was a very busy day for me and Kim. But among all of the errands we ran we did manage to take off a couple hours to head into the city and visit Penn's Landing. And while there you know I had to shoot at least a couple of snapshots. So for today's photo I am sharing a Panorama I made with my camera phone.

Click For Full Size Image

This is made up of five separate frames and was created by Google Photos. I did some very minor adjustments in Photoshop but for the most part it is straight out of camera. It was also shot in Full Auto. As such there really is no need to share Technical Info or even a "Before" image.

Welcome To The Daily View

When I headed out to work this morning it must have been near 60° F (around 15° C). And we reached a high somewhere around 70° F (21° C). There was a bit of fog too. Tomorrow though is supposed to be the complete opposite. It's going to be much colder and on top of that we are looking at a possible 8 or more inches of snow. Welcome to Winter in Pennsylvania! But getting back to my drive in today, I shot this picture of one if the buildings at the Norristown State Hospital while sitting in traffic.

I shot this with my camera phone. The excellent Samsung Galaxy S6. Being shot in Full Auto I am not sharing any technical info. I did crop it and converted it from color into black and white in Photoshop.

Here is the "Before" image.
