Tuesday View - 4 December 2018 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Yesterday morning as I was in our back yard (Cafe) filling the feeders I noticed the Moon high up in the sky. So I grabbed my camera and shot today's photo. Now, you may notice the unusual cropping I have done with this shot. It's not a landscape but also not really a portrait. I am really just trying to fit everything in. Because if you look closely you'll see Venus at the bottom of the frame. A simple picture yes. But here are a few facts to make you think a little. Our Moon is approximately 160 Million Miles from Venus. Venus is on average 162 Million Miles From Earth. And the Earth is 238,900 Miles from the Moon. Quite a triangle huh? Please keep in mind that these numbers change as the Moon orbits the Earth and the Earth and Venus orbit the Sun.

Exploration Photography Daily View - October 9, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Friday edition of the Exploration Photography Daily View!

Yeah it's pretty much like the other days but I really like Fridays. And today's post is a lot like yesterday's except it's a little different. Yep, the same but different! Check out my view of the morning sky once again viewed from our back deck.

Like yesterday we can see the Moon and Venus but there is also what I believe to be Mars and of you look real hard you can see a couple of stars too. The funny thing is that I didn't even see those stars when I shot this. I discovered them later during post processing. Sort of an added bonus.

And now I must go but I'll be back real soon. I hope to see you here again at the blog.

Until next time...

Exploration Photography Daily View - October 8, 2015

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

As we head straight on into Autumn we are being blessed with some really nice weather. Last week was so wet and rainy and cold but is seems that warm air and sunshine are not quite ready to hibernate. It's a bit cloudy right now but this morning the skies were clear and as I stepped out onto our rear deck I was greeted by this.

The Moon of course and what I believe to be Venus. You are welcome to correct me though if I am incorrect.

Looking at this photo I see it as a true lesson in perspective and relativity. The Moon looks so much bigger than Venus. That is of course because the Moon is only 238,900 Miles (384472.282 Kilometers) from Earth and Venus is about 26 Million Miles (42 Million Kilometers) away.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

April 24, 2015 - Photo Of The Day

Hi there folks! It's finally Friday and though it's a little chilly right now it should warm up a bit tomorrow. At least that's what the experts say.

Today I would like to share three photos with you. The first two are from a couple nights ago. I was taking some trash out to our can and noticed the sky was very clear and offered me a great view of the Moon.

And not just the Moon. Venus was visible too. Obviously there is absolutely no detail in this photo but I guess that's due to the fact that it is approximately 162 million miles away from Earth.

Yep. That little white dot (more like speck) at the bottom right of the frame is Venus.

And before I go and just to switch things up here is a shot I got this morning of one of our local squirrels.

And that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by and please be sure to come back soon. I have some cool new stuff to share.

Until next time...

March 9, 2015 - Photo of The Day

Wow! How about this weather? Spring is really in the air.

As you probably know I like to photograph he Moon. So I was outside tonight scanning the sky and though the Moon has not risen I found this instead.

Now I'm not an astronomer by any means but I believe this to be Venus. If I am not mistaken Venus is usually the brightest "star like" object in the sky aside from the Sun and the Moon. Please do correct me of I am wrong. But no matter what it is I could not resist the composition. Not to mention that it is such a comfortable night to be outside photographing.

And on another subject here is today's "Amaryllis Watch" photo. Assuming it is an Amaryllis that is.

Not much different from yesterday but I think it will start to open soon. I guess we'll just have to wait and see though.

And I'm calling it a day for now. Thanks for stopping by and as always please be sure to come back soon. And enjoy the weather!

until next time...
