Welcome To The Saturday View

After all the rain last weekend brought us mother nature has done a complete 180 and has given us a wonderful day to spend outside. Kim and I took advantage of it and spent the day in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. We were all over the place and took in a lot of really nice scenery and naturally a grabbed a shot or two. All of them snapshots because I didn't bring my camera but I did get some good stuff. For today's photo I would like to share this one with you.

Nothing particularly special. I just think the sign looks really cool.

Exploration Photography Daily View - January 4, 2016

Hi and welcome to the Daily View!

For today's photo I am sharing another shot from yesterday morning. This is the view I had as I was capturing the sunrise outside of the hotel we spent the night at.

This was about 10 minutes before the sun broke the horizon. Not your normal hotel parking lot scenery huh?

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

January 12, 2015 - Photo of The Day

Hello everyone and happy Monday! We have had a very rainy start to the work week here. But it seems that after a couple more days there should be a slight warming trend. Nice!

Today I am going to share a couple more shots I made in Lancaster.  the first one is a panorama made up of two frames.

And this is a little closer view of one of the many farms.

And I think that may wrap it up for photos from this trip. It was very cold and I didn't shoot as much as I would have liked. There may be one or two more but I don't know. But it definitely wraps it up for today.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Until next time...

December 9, 2014 - Photo of The Day

Well as it turns out I never got to that second post yesterday. I just got caught up in other things. So today I have two photos for you. How's that sound?

Both pictures are from my visit to Norview farm yesterday. Here is the first one I like to call Duck Duck Goose. Though I guess it should really be called Goose Duck Duck.

And this one takes a closer look at our goose friend. He has an interesting personality and is quite vocal I might add.

And as an added bonus I am including a short one minute video so you can hear what he has to say :)

As always the video is best enjoyed at full screen and in HD.

So that's all for now folks. Thanks for reading and please check back real soon.

Until next time...

December 8, 2014 - Photo Of The Day

Hi all! To go along with today's photo of the day I have a riddle for you. It's the age old question; Why did the chicken cross the road?

Well apparently for this chicken it was to get almost to the other side, go back to the middle and then continue to cross. I'm sure glad this isn't a busy road!

I shot this today at Norview Farm in King of Prussia. It's not a working farm anymore but rather a petting farm. There is also a greenhouse on the premises and in the warmer months an ice cream shop. You can even purchase spring water there directly out of the well. Norview was once a dairy farm but has been closed for many years. The township purchased the property and operates it as a local park. It's nice to have some open space in our all too crowded retail community.

And I have to go for now. I am working on some photos and may have another post today. The key word here is may. I will however be back soon to share more of my photos with you. I hope you visit again soon.

Until next time...

September 27, 2014 - Photo Of The Day

How incredible is this weather we are having here this weekend? Today the temperature made it into the low 80's! Not bad at all for the last week of September.

Kim and I decided we definitely did not want to waste such a beautiful day so we made a trip to someplace that neither of us had been to before. Only about a half hour away we drove to The Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. Wow! what a hidden treasure. At least it was hidden to us.

Now, I knew about it and have even driven past signs for it but never went there before. When we arrived I was not just impressed with the wonderful historic buildings but the grounds they sit on. Very open and spacious and again, hidden in our modern day hustle and bustle.

Today I am sharing two photos with you. The first one of course is the Boone House.

On this spot originally sat a one story log house built by Squire Boone in 1730. Through the years it evolved into the two story stone house you see here. Daniel Boone was born in the log house in 1734. The Boone family resided here until 1750.

This home holds a very rich history that you can read about here and here. Also, if you ever happen to visit I encourage you to take the guided tour. It only costs $6.00 per adult and is very informative. It is obvious that the guides are not only knowledgeable but really enjoy the history that they offer.

The second photo I would like to show you is of the Homestead barn and the Blacksmith Shop.

Only part of the barn is original and it is Pennsylvania Dutch in design. Also, though Squire Boone was a blacksmith this shop was not original to the property. It was moved there from nearby Amityville, Pennsylvania (not from the famous book and horror movie!) and dates back to 1769.

I will be sharing more in upcoming posts. I shot a lot of frames today and it will take some time to go over them. Please be sure to check back. I will also be posting some other photos and some "behind the scenes" at the Facebook Group. If you haven't had a chance already please take a look at it here.

Thanks for stopping by and as always,

Until next time...
