Being a nice day Kim and I decided to visit the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, Pennsylvania. It also helped that the admission was only $4.00 for the holiday compared to the usual $14.00 per adult. Needless to say the zoo was crowded, but not too crowded.
Being Independence Day I thought it proper to check out the very first exhibit after entering the zoo. The American Bald Eagles.
There are also other eagles in the exhibit.
Those who are familiar with Elmwood know that it has seemed to have become the home of many vultures. This one was hanging out with the eagles.
After visiting the eagles we strolled throughout the rest of the zoo. Here are two of the Owls.
And a monkey. I am sorry to say that I don't know the proper name for this guy. If anyone does please feel free to let me know.
On to the plains and the Buffalo.
Then one of my favorites. The Capybara.
In the pond we find turtles...
Ducks...
And a really cool swan. I was able to get really close.
Another one of my favorites. The River Otters. They were not too active today. I guess we caught them at nap time.
Also near the Otters, Bobcats...
And Flamingos.
For our last stop of the day we visited the zoo's newest exhibit. It's called "Birds of Paradise" and is home to several conures. There is a $2.00 charge if you want to feed them but it is so worth the money. Here is Kim with fours birds.
And a couple more photos of these awesome birds.
Before I call it a day I would also like to share a video I shot with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4). These are the Squirrel Monkeys. They are so fast and so active that it can be difficult to get a good photo. A photo also doesn't show how active they really are.
That's all for today. As always I thank you for taking the time to stop by. If you like what you see feel free to let me know in the comments. If there is something you think could use improvement that's cool too:) If you know others who might enjoy my little blog it would be great of you to share it.
Until next time...
