Today's view is a quick on my friends.. It's been raining almost all day so I didn't get out to shoot. I did shoot one frame though right here at the Cafe. Literally one frame. And for today's view I am sharing it with you. Here is a rather damp mourning dove.

It's another rainy, dreary Saturday my friends. We seem to be getting a lot of those this Spring. But at least the rain today is off and on so I was able to make a quick drive to the local zoo to grab some photos. And I've found that rainy days are good days at the zoo. I guess it's a combination of fewer people and more active animals. Especially in warmer weather. The only problem with today's trip was a few of the exhibits were closed. One of them being the river otters which are one of my favorites. But that's okay because the zoo is only a few minutes away and I have an annual membership so there is no extra cost. So now I would like to share what I got today. And I think you'll like some of these.
These first two shots are not of an animal on exhibit but rather a very pretty robin that happened to land nearby.
And here in an actual exhibit we see a peregrine falcon.
Here of course is one of the leopards.
I'm not sure what the first bird here is but think it may be a duck. The second is some kind of pheasant.
Here is a couple monkeys that again I am not sure what breed.
And here we see a turtle, some lizards, some poison frogs and a snake.

I did a lot of shooting at the Cafe today and captured a lot of pictures of our guests. And what a variety we saw. But for today's view I would like to share just two visitors. And they both happen to be squirrels. I have learned that squirrels like black oil sunflower seeds a lot more than they like peanuts. I guess that's good because the seeds are a lot better for them.
I would also like to share a video. I shot this yesterday with my GoPro. It's a quick thunderstorm that rolled through in the evening. For the first minute and a half or so you can hear the birds singing but as the thunder gets louder and the rain gets harder they fly away to take cover. And at the end they come back and start singing again. This video can be viewed up to 4K quality.

Good day my friends. For today's view I would like to try another "update as I go" post. Meaning of course I am going to write part of the post now and update it throughout the day. I am still thinking about doing several small updates one day but not quite yet. I still need to think about how I would like to do that. So for now I would like to start the day with these shots I made in the back back section of the Cafe after work yesterday. As you will see I got down and up close and personal to bring you these dandelions and seeds. It was easy getting down but getting up is another story. The lengths I go to get the shot. It's now around 9:30am as I share these first photos.
Hey, I'm back. Okay I know you can't tell I was away from the computer for hours but I assure you I was. It is now 3:08 PM and I have a few shots from one of the Cafe feeders to show you. It was very busy and I saw a lot of cool birds including some bluejays and male cardinals.
It is now 4:36 PM and I am going to finish today's post with some shots from the front of the Cafe at the suet feeder. Suet is a favorite of our woodpeckers but as you can see the blackbirds will eat there too. Specifically this female red winged blackbird.

If there is something that is just as important if not more so to attracting birds and wildlife to your garden as providing food it's providing fresh water. Here at the Cafe I refresh a bird bath and three other watering stations daily. Sometimes twice daily. I believe that is why I see so many birds. I even get robins in the winter months. I have been working on of the feeding stations for a little while now and I think it's coming along nicely. It's a little rustic but that's how I want it. And the birds and squirrels seem to like it that way. I will post some pictures in an upcoming edition but for today I would like to share a couple shots I made today after work.
And here is a quick video I made yesterday. It's a time lapse that was shot over the course of about an hour but is now condensed into around three minutes.
