Saturday View - 15 June 2024 Edition

Hi there my friends. I know it's been a few days but I am finally back with a new post. Today I took a drive to Jenkins Arboretum. Though it's only 15 minutes away and on top of that free of charge I haven't been there in at least two years. I'll be going back again soon though because I forgot how nice it is. For today's view I would like to share some photos I made during my visit.

This isn't the best shot of a chipmunk but it's the best I could get. They are very quick.

When I saw this on one of the walking paths I instantly thought it looked like an acorn and had to share it.

These two are particular cool. There is a patch of Prickly Pear Cactus that bloom for one week a year. I just happened to visit at the right time.

I shot a few videos too and would like to share one of them with you. It is best viewed in 1080p or 4K.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today has been a very chilly and very windy one but so far our flowers have been okay. I did cover the tulips with buckets last night and due to said wind have left them on today. I hope this cold snap passes quickly. Anyway while I was out photographing our tulips yesterday I also shot some pictures in one of our neighbor's yard. They have daffodils and lots of wildflowers. And for today's view I would like to share this little wildflower. You can't tell from the photo but it is less than an in wide. I got up close using that 50mm lens I got at Christmas. I am really loving shooting with it.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

The weather is turning cold here again. It seems that Old Man Winter just doesn't want to give up just yet. Tonight isn't supposed to be too bad at around 35° F but tomorrow night it's supposed to hit 21° F which is not good for our Spring blooms. I did pick up some buckets that I'll put over them to keep any frost out but I just hope the cold doesn't get them. So for today's view I would like to share this tulip. I have about seven or eight blooming right now and I hope they'll be okay. I'll do my best.

And welcome to the first day of Spring. Although yesterday felt a lot more Springlike this weather still beats snow and ice. And I'm able to have the windows open so there's that. Now speaking of Spring what better way to celebrate it's arrival than to enjoy some more flowers from my trip to Longwood yesterday? Well okay I'm sure there are better ways but I'm going to share some with you anyway. Actually one. For today's view I would like to share a few shots I made of some lilies. Lilies can be put on the list of my favorites right up there with Orchids. In fact I hope some of mine will be coming up as soon as the warm weather is a little more consistent. Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Today has been another beautiful one my friends. It's warm and for most of the day it's been sunny and just a great day to spend some time outside with nature. And for the first time in over a year and a half I visited one of my favorite places, Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square Pennsylvania. For those of you who are not familiar I have included a link above but it's a 1,077 acre botanical garden that was once the home of Pierre S DuPont.You really should check the link if you want to know more than I can tell you though. What I can do is share a few pictures from my visit today. In fact I'll probably be sharing them for a few days. But to start things off I would like to show you some Orchids. Orchids are one of my favorite flowers and Longwood has plenty. Please have a look.

It's that time of year again when some of our wild flowers start to bloom. Not wildflowers but flowers that are wild. And some of the first to appear are the Grape Hyacinth. We get a lot of them but they only last for a few weeks. In fact a lot of our neighbors get them too. I did a lot of yard cleanup today. It's a little cooler than yesterday and definitely more windy but the sun is shining and it's pretty nice overall. And even with the wind I decided to take our daisy outside again and see if I could get some better shots than the other day. That was the day I had a squirrel on the roof. And it was a good thing because the daisy shots weren't that good. Today's however are a lot better. So here you go.

A week or so ago I was in a local grocery store and there was a nice selection of bulbs as I walked in. Flower bulbs that is. And although we have more than enough flowers taking up most of our windows I couldn't resist getting another. So I picked up an iris. Not that you could tell because here was no flowers just a few stalks coming up out of the dirt. When I got home I stuck it in our front window and watered it and over the next few days the leaves grew longer and longer. Then one day when I got home Kim asked if I had noticed the flowers. I asked "what flowers?" and she said the iris. And to my delight it had taken off very well. So for today's view I would like to share this photo I made this afternoon after work.

Happy Independence Day To all of my American readers! To everyone else Happy 4th of July!

Today Kim and I were both off from work in observance of the holiday so we had a rare chance to visit Longwood Gardens during a Summer month. And that's just we did. So in place of a throwback photo I would like to share some pictures from Longwood. I love visiting Longwood this time of year when all of the flowers are in full bloom. There is just so much to see. And I got a lot of terrific shots. To make sharing some of them a little more organized I am posting them in categories. To start things off I would like you to see some shots from the Water Lily Garden. These are all of course water lilies but if you look closely you will see a stowaway or two. Of these shots I have a personal favorite but I am curious as to which one you like the best. If you would be so kind please let me know in the comments.
