January 15, 2015 - Photo Of The Day

Today's post is going to be a quick one. So let's get right to the photo. This is a tree on our street. I was standing under it the other evening and happened to have my camera in hand. As many of you probably know I have a thing for bare trees. I love to be able to see the way their branches bend and twist. And I really like this the way this shot came out.

January 1, 2015 - Photo Of The Day

Welcome to 2015 and welcome to my first post of the new year.

Yesterday I ended 2014 by sharing the last sunrise of the year. Today in contrast to that I would like to share the first sunset of the year.

I shot this with my camera phone from our car as Kim and I were heading out for dinner tonight. I'm glad there were no cars behind us.

As it is for a lot of you, tonight is a very cool and crisp night. It is also very clear for us. That makes for the perfect conditions to shoot the Moon. So to go along with the sunset I would like to share the Moon as it is risen high in the sky.

Because of the nice clear and haze free sky I was able to capture a lot of detail. I find the Winter months to be the best for moonshots.

December 30, 2014 - Photo Of The Day

In a post a while back I wrote about turning around. While photographing that is. My point was that sometimes when I am out shooting I will turn around and the perfect shot is right in front of me. Well that kind of happened to me today.

I was out on our deck trying to get a shot of the moon. After twenty frames or so I felt I was finished and I was about to go inside when I turned around and saw this.

Okay this may not be the perfect shot but it still pretty nice. It would have been a lot better without that patio umbrella in the frame but I work with what I have. And besides it isn't my umbrella to move. This was about twenty minutes before sunset. The moon photos? Well they didn't turn out that great. That's just the way it goes.

October 24, 2014 - Photo Of The Day

How about this great weather we're having here in the Northeast? Today was a perfect Fall day. Moderate temperatures with low humidity and to top it off a nice red-orange setting sun. And that is what I share with you today.

Now I have a question for you. Are any of you familiar with Google Blogger? Actually I know a couple of you are and you are the ones I have a question for. Have you noticed that when you upload a photo that for some reason it is brighter than it should be? This happens to me all of the time and I have to adjust my photos accordingly so they show up the way I intend. It's nothing I can't work with but I would like to know if I can fix it. I will go through the settings a bit more thoroughly but if you have an easy solution please let me know.

August 29, 2014 - Photo Of The Day

It's called the "Golden Hour". The hour or so after sunrise and before sunset. This is the very best time for nature and landscape photographers. The sweet spot if you will. It is during this time that the sun's light is at it's friendliest. Today's Photo Of The Day is a good example.

I shot this on the beach in Wildwood Crest this evening about 40 minutes to sunset. Note the golden tone in the sand. If this were taken at noon it would have been washed out and dull.

Oh and the seagull tracks are cool too!
