How was your holiday? Mine was pretty good. We didn't do a whole lot. Oh we ran errands and even shopped around for some bargains but for the most part everything was low key. It was very nice. For the past several months we have had so much going on but it's all finally coming together. I would love to share more with you but I thinks it's best to wait. A few of you already know and I think you agree with me. But I can tell you that it's pretty big, at least for Kim and me. Like a lot of you I was off from work today. It was a bit rainy and a little gloomy so I thought it would be a good day to visit the zoo. And I was right. The crowds were small and the animals were pretty active. Most of them at least. Including my favorite. The River Otters.
What a ham! They sure like to show off. Here's a short video too.
The weather forecast for July 4th (Independence day in America) called for morning rain and clouds throughout the day. Well as it turned out we had a very brief shower very early and more sun than clouds. Another one in our favor! I really can not complain about the weather this summer. While yes we have had a lot of rain it almost all seems to happen during the work week and clear up on the weekend. A true blessing considering how bad a winter we had. Being a nice day Kim and I decided to visit the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, Pennsylvania. It also helped that the admission was only $4.00 for the holiday compared to the usual $14.00 per adult. Needless to say the zoo was crowded, but not too crowded.
Being Independence Day I thought it proper to check out the very first exhibit after entering the zoo. The American Bald Eagles.
For our last stop of the day we visited the zoo's newest exhibit. It's called "Birds of Paradise" and is home to several conures. There is a $2.00 charge if you want to feed them but it is so worth the money. Here is Kim with fours birds.
And a couple more photos of these awesome birds.
Before I call it a day I would also like to share a video I shot with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4). These are the Squirrel Monkeys. They are so fast and so active that it can be difficult to get a good photo. A photo also doesn't show how active they really are.
That's all for today. As always I thank you for taking the time to stop by. If you like what you see feel free to let me know in the comments. If there is something you think could use improvement that's cool too:) If you know others who might enjoy my little blog it would be great of you to share it. Until next time...
