Yesterday was such a nice day that I decided to take a drive over to the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove to have a walk around. And today I would like to share a handful of shots that I got, plus a couple videos. There's still more to go over but for now here is what I have. The squirrel in the first few photos was very friendly. He actually ran up to me and seemed to pose for the camera.
I did a lot of shooting at the Cafe today and captured a lot of pictures of our guests. And what a variety we saw. But for today's view I would like to share just two visitors. And they both happen to be squirrels. I have learned that squirrels like black oil sunflower seeds a lot more than they like peanuts. I guess that's good because the seeds are a lot better for them.
I would also like to share a video. I shot this yesterday with my GoPro. It's a quick thunderstorm that rolled through in the evening. For the first minute and a half or so you can hear the birds singing but as the thunder gets louder and the rain gets harder they fly away to take cover. And at the end they come back and start singing again. This video can be viewed up to 4K quality.
It seems that no matter where I go I find a squirrel. Or perhaps they find me? And Longwood Gardens is no exception. I was on my way back to the main entrance to head home and I looked up and saw this guy looking down. I didn't have anything to feed him but I don't think I would be allowed to anyway. Not in the gardens. So I took a few pictures of him and would like to share one of them with you. As an aside I only had a 50mm lens on my camera that day. I just got it at Christmas and wanted to use it for photographing flowers. I must say I am very pleased with the results. Though it's not as good for shots like this one. I don't think it turned out too bad though considering.
Today we take a look at the same squirrel from yesterdays view as she was coming down out of the tree. I often see squirrels squirrels flatten themselves up against the tree trunk. I guess it's their way of staying safe as they look around for other animals and possibly hawks. Or maybe they're just playing.
What a difference a day makes. Okay I guess it's really a couple days but today sure is nice. The sun is shining and it's in the 60's. All of the ice and most of the snow from Saturday has melted and it feels a lot like Spring. I even planted some tulip bulbs this afternoon. Let's hope they do well. And of course while in the garden I had my camera nearby to grab a shot or two since our wildlife is very active. And for today's view I would like to share this squirrel. I put peanuts out and she quickly grabbed one to snack on.
Today we go from the moon to a place a little closer to home. And that place would be the Cafe. So of course for today's view we take a look at one of our many squirrels. This little guy is really cool and I believe actually posed for this picture. I'm sure the peanuts helped.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View There was a lot of yard work to be done when we got home from the camper today. And man was it hot. But it had to get done so I did it. But before I got to work I took a few minutes to shoot some frames at the Cafe. The squirrels were actually waiting for me to toss them some peanuts and I figured I'd use it as an opportunity to photograph them. And for today's view I would like to share this one with you.
That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time...
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Today was a rainy one my friends. If you're from around here you know what I mean. But in between downpours I spent some time at the Cafe feeding the squirrels and birds some peanuts and of course had my camera with me. I didn't get a lot but for today's view I would like to share one of the shots I did capture.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View As I get outside a little more (and I mean a "little" more) I am trying to grab some extra shots or so at the Cafe. And that means more squirrel pictures. It seems to me that this newer generation of squirrels has become accustomed to me being around with my camera. As long as I'm also there with peanuts I suppose. But it's almost to the point where they come down out of the trees when they hear that bag. Pretty cool I think. So anyway for today's view here is one of our squirrels enjoying one of those fresh peanuts.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Yesterday I shared a picture of a woodpecker I captured while shooting some squirrel photos. Today I am sharing one of the squirrel pictures. Plus a short video I made this afternoon. A video of some of our squirrels plus the added bonus of Schnitzel barking out the front door at them.
That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time...
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Today we take another look at one of last weeks squirrel pictures. I was going through the folder of RAW shots on my laptop and came across a couple that I think deserve to be shared. And this is one of them. Stay tuned for one or two more later this week.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Today's usual throwback post is being replaced by squirrel photo I shot today. I was off work and after many errands had some time to spend in the Cafe with my camera. And it was very busy which meant lots of opportunity for some good shots. This guy was sitting on the back of the bench we have out front. It seems our wildlife use it more than us.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View It seems as if it's been a while since I shared one of our squirrels. So for today's view I am sharing one I saw at the Cafe this afternoon. It looks like he's napping but he was actually stalking one of his siblings.
That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time...
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View I shot today's view the same day I shot the lilies that I shared yesterday. It was nice and bright but cloudy and the clouds along with the pink flowers on our dogwood make this a nice scene. And what scene isn't better with a squirrel anyway?
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View When in doubt or in he absence of anything else to share, share a squirrel. I actually have a few things to share but they aren't ready yet so for today's view I thought I'd show you one of our guests. Peanut in hand of course. Okay in mouth but you get the idea.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Well today once again started out blah but as it went on it cleared up a bit and just became cold. I did get out for a few minutes with the camera though. Literally a few minutes. And I was fortunate enough to grab some squirrel shots. So of course I am sharing one with you for today's view.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Today was sunnier and would have been warm if it were not for the wind. But at least it didn't rain. I still didn't get a lot done outside and didn't shoot any so today's view is from Monday morning at one of the feeders. This guy was taking a break from eating but he sure did get right back to it a few frames later. It was a good day for photographing squirrels.
Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View Today's view is a couple shots I made at one of the feeders today. I set up my camera to shoot a frame every 4 seconds and walked away so our guests wouldn't get spooked. I get a lot of good candid shots this way. Including these.
