When I get home form work this time of year I have a limited time to fill the feeders and water so the birds and squirrels can enjoy some before dark. And I have even less time to snap photos. But sometimes I get some good shots. Today was one of those days. And for today's view I would like to share this pretty female cardinal. One of dozens of cardinals that frequent the Cafe.

Well the snow came and it came in a pretty big way. We only got about 5 inches here but add in the cold and the high wind and it was a mess. And we were lucky because areas not too far from us got up to 16 inches. And through it all I did my best to keep up with the Cafe. I must have filled the bird bath four times with warm water and each time it was immediately used. The heated water bowl in the front of the house got lots of use too. So with all of this activity I was able to grab a lot of pictures. But out of them all I know what I would like to share for today's view. When I was out back taking some pictures of our holly trees I noticed a couple Robins in our dogwood tree. And then I turned to some of our taller trees and saw something I think is amazing, at least for January. I saw a lot of Robins. And I mean a lot. Take a look.

Today we turn our eyes from the Cafe and look up to the skies. I am of course talking about the Moon. I know I share the Moon a lot but I really like this shot. Not only because it came out good but because it was shot handheld.

I shared a picture the other day showing you a couple Robins and other birds making use of our bird bath. It was very cold that day and I had to add warm water every now and then to keep it in liquid form. With today's view however we see that it's not only the birds that frequent the bath. Our squirrels are quite happy to stop by for a quick sip of water. Remember, water is just as important as food for wildlife. In fact in the Winter months it may be more important as it's difficult to come by with the freezing temperatures.

The Cafe seemed to be very active today. Just like yesterday I saw a few Robins along with our usual mix of guests. And among those guests was this little guy. He is one of a few woodpeckers that come around regularly. I don't usually get a chance to photograph the woodpeckers because they are very skittish but I was able top grab this shot from our front doorway. It was just good timing.

Today's view is a little rare, at least around here. Not only is it Winter but it is very cold. When I got up this morning it was a brisk 9° F (-12° C) outside. I see all kinds of wildlife out and about this time of year and it actually amazes me sometimes. But what I don't usually see is a robin. I not only saw one though. I saw four of them at our bird bath. I did read recently that they don't always migrate for the Winter if there is food and water available so I guess they got the word that the Cafe is the place to be. Now this isn't the best shot in the world but it's the best I could get at the time. What I hope to do is set up a camera and walk away while it shoots at 5 second intervals for about an hour. That way I can get closer and not scare anyone off. If it works I'll be sure to share the results here.

Today I would like to share another view of Saturday Morning's sunrise at the park. The very, very cold park. It was definitely not this dark when I shot this but I needed to adjust my camera settings to compensate for the brightness of the sun. The sky really was this color though. It was beautiful.

The weather has been a little weird around here my friends. And I know a lot of you are from the area so you know what I mean. When we went to bed last night there was probably about two inches of snow on the ground with more coming down. And it was very windy. Then came the rain overnight and along with it a rise in temperature. When I woke this morning it was 44° F (just under 7° C) and just about all of the snow was gone. And it was clear. Then as the day went on the temperatures came down and now we are getting flurries. And in the midst of all of this I still have our Cafe guests to think about. I have been trying to make sure they have fresh water and plenty of food. The food part is easier than the water when it dips below freezing. And as you can see from today's view our guests are eating well.

To say today has been a cold one would be an understatement. The overnight low was supposed to be around 14° F but it got colder than that. When I got up it was 11° F and a little breezy and overall just nasty. But on the other hand it was clear. And clear means a good opportunity for some nice sunrise photos. So I got dressed, grabbed my camera and headed to the park. Fortunately it's a simple two minute drive. Not so simple was bearing the cold as I worked the camera. I can't shoot with gloves on and by the time I was done I could barely feel my hands. So this was a quick shoot. I often like to grab a bunch of before sunrise shots and shoot some scenery after I'm done with the Sun but not today. I'm dedicated but I don't like frostbite. Anyway, for today's view I would like to share this morning's sunrise.

It's another cold one today my friends. In fact the high today was 25° F (-3.8° C). But cold or not our Cafe guests need to eat. I always make sure there is plenty of food in the morning and once again in the evening. I also try to keep a fresh supply of water out for them too. The birdbath freezes over but I add warm water so at least they can use it for a while. I also have a large heated water bowl that never freezes. Anyway, today after work I put some peanuts out and it didn't take long for this little guy to grab some and start chowing down before his bedtime.

Today has been a rainy one in these parts, the kind where you really don't want to do anything. I did get to the park briefly and shot a few camera phone pics. Today's view is a good one my friends, if I do say so myself. No, really I am pleased with how these came out. This evening I took a drive to The Norristown Farm Park just as the sun was beginning to set to grab some pictures and was treated to some wonderful scenery. The sky was nice and clear with no haze thanks to the 32° F (0° C) temperature and the Sun was a nice orange and yellow color. I could describe it all day but instead just take a look at today's view. I also shot some other pictures of interest and you will be able to see them in my upcoming posts.

Well it was another cold one today but not as cold as yesterday thankfully. And it was even warm enough this evening to spend a little time outside with my camera to shoot a few Moon photos. It was a little windy which is never helpful when trying to steady the camera on the tripod but even worse was the clouds. I had to wait a few times for them to clear out so I could focus and get a decent picture. So for today's view I would like to share a sample of what I got. If you live around here along the Mid-Atlantic corridor or the Northeast you know how cold the weather is. And of course we are due for some potential snow or ice. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It could mean some cool pictures. I was in our backyard today and took notice to the rather large amount of berries on our holly bushes. I say bushes but they are really trees I guess. They are tall and have thick trunks. And when I say tall I mean at least 20 feet tall. So let's call them trees. And with all the berries I just had to shoot a picture or ten, so for today's view I am sharing a couple of them with you.
