Today's view is a snapshot I made this evening as Kim and I were heading home from a doctor appointment. It's a passenger rail line that runs through the suburbs of Philadelphia and also happens to run by the parking lot my car was in. I used black and white because I think it brings feeling to the image. The bright lights are from a train that just pulled up.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

It's been While but today while we were out and about I decided to take a quick drive through Valley Forge National Park. I thought it would be nice to snap a few pictures at some of my favorite spots. And that of course included my favorite tree. But when I got to the tree there was something different. The tree is still there but it looks like some of the heavy winds we have seen lately took their toll on it. When I pulled up to it I saw a rather large limb sitting on the ground in front of it. And when I looked up I could see where it broke off the tree. I hope the rest of it survives for a long time to come.

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

We have a lot of trees here of different variety. We have several Holly, Dogwoods, a Weeping Willow, an Oak and even a Japanese Maple but we don't have any Evergreens. Except that we do. Sort of. Today's view is a shot I made of an Evergreen growing out of our Oak. It's really cool but I know that I really should remove it. I just don't want to though. So I'll let it grow for a while before I cut it out. Ideally I would be able to get it at the roots but it won't be easy. If I do I'll move it elsewhere in the yard and let it grow. For now though I'll let it stay where it is.

Today we go back to my Sunday shoot and take another look at one of our Cafe squirrels. This guy was enjoying a peanut and didn't seem to pay me any attention while I shot off several frames. I'm just glad I am able to see them on the weekends because I literally never see them during the work week. I leave in the dark and come home in the dark. Thankfully in just about a month and a half the days gradually start to get longer. Come on Winter (Solstice)!

Today's view is a close look at one of the many sparrows that frequents the Cafe. I shot this from about two feet away through our front storm door. I don't really like having glass between my camera and my subject but in this case it acted as sort of a bird blind and they could not see me. The quality is a little off but I got the shot. And at least the door was clean.

I shot today's view at the Cafe this morning while a bunch of young squirrels were "playing". They chase each other to determine dominance within their group. While they appear to be fighting they usually don't hurt each other. I rarely get a chance to capture them doing this but I happened to be set up already and was able to grab a few frames. I got a lot of other stuff too but that will be for another day.

Today was a busy one my friends. We made a day trip to the camper to winterize it and grab a few things to bring home. And of course we made a few stops while we were there. None of those stops however involved shooting pictures. So you're getting another Schnitzel picture. Yesterday he was wondering why the fireplace wasn't on and in tonight's photo he is looking for his dinner. And he actually cooperated with me letting me take his picture.

Sunday View - 10 November 2019 Edition

Welcome To The Exploration Photography Daily View

Now that we are pretty much done with the shore for the next four or five months I am able to actually spend a little time here at home at the Cafe. Thus I have a lot more opportunity to photograph our local wildlife. So wasting no time I did just that today. And oddly for me the first shot I am sharing is not a squirrel. It's a bluejay. I was in the process of stalking one of our squirrels when I heard the very familiar and very loud call of a bluejay up in one of our trees. So I switched gears a bit and shot off several frames and came away with a couple good ones. And for today's view I would like you to see this one.

I would also like to share a second shot. After dark this evening I was shooting the Full Moon and thought it would be fun to do a long exposure of one of our Fall decorations. This is our turkey pumpkin. I shot this with no flash, manually focused and exposed for 20 seconds. I of course used a tripod and a remote shutter release. Oh and lamp post you can see behind the turkey was on but it shed almost no light on it. And the only adjustments I made was some cropping. Otherwise this is straight from the camera.

I haven't had a lot of time to get out and shoot for a few days and really haven't even been anywhere particularly interesting. As such I actually didn't know what to post today. So I went through some snapshots and came across today's view. I have shared a squirrel or two over the years but none quite like these. I found these figurines a couple weeks ago at a thrift store in Rio Grand New Jersey just outside of Wildwood. They were made in Occupied Japan and are about 70 years old. And I am very happy to have them in my collection.
