It's been a while since I have shared a squirrel so here you go. It looks like this little guy is thinking. And I know what he's thinking. He's thinking "how many peanuts can I eat before the rains come?". And the rains sure did come. Hopefully they stay away for a little while.

While at the camper this past weekend Kim and I did some sprucing up. Mostly we cleaned up debris from the recent storms but in preparation of an upcoming upgrade Kim did some work in the little garden out front. For today's view I would like to share this snapshot of some of her handiwork.

Today's view is a random shot I made on the way home from the shore this afternoon. As you can guess traffic was really heavy but thanks to the GPS we were able to reroute and take back roads. It still took us longer to get home but at least we kept going. And we got to see some nice scenery.

For only the second time in about four years this post is getting out to you a little late. But since I started it on time I'm not counting that. Sound okay?
This is a view from the WW2 observation tower located at Sunset Beach in Cape May New Jersey. This tower, and others like it, were built to watch the coast for enemy troops during the Second World War. I'll post more about it in an upcoming update.

A few months back around the middle of Winter I picked up a Sony digital camera at a thrift store for a really good price. It is used for sure but in overall excellent condition. And everything is there, even the box and instructions. I haven't used it much yet but I am starting to take it along with me when we go out. I had it with me at the camper last weekend and on Saturday night I shot a few pictures of the flame atop one of our torches. So for today's view I am sharing this simple flame.

After work today I was able to spend a little time in the Cafe with my camera. The weather was really nice and we had a lot of patrons. All of a sudden though it seemed that everyone just left. Not a squirrel and barely any birds except for a few bluejays. Then looking up I saw the reason for the abrupt departure. Way up at the top of our weeping willow sat a large hawk. And he was there for a while surveying the ground below, even as some blackbirds and grackles squawked at him. There was some catbirds too. But he wasn't leaving. In fact after shooting a lot of frames I finally went inside. I really don't know when he left. I just hope he didn't dine on any of our wildlife.

This morning before work I was in our back yard as usual while Schnitzel did his thing and stretched his legs. And like any other morning I filled the feeders and checked on our outdoor flowers. They sure didn't need water because we got a bit of rain overnight. But I did notice that one flower is coming back. I still don't know what this is but a few days ago it had no blooms and now it is starting to liven up a little. I hope this trend continues. So having some time I grabbed my camera and tripod and shot some frames. For today's view I would like to share this one with you. With a little post processing of course.

Today's view is one of my very favorite subjects and one that I hope to shoot more this Summer. Especially at the shore. I am of course talking about the Sun. The sunrise to be precise. I shot this one with my phone on the way to work this morning. It really wasn't as dark as it looks but I had to under expose the frame so the image didn't get washed out. It was very bright this morning.

I managed to get out after work and do a little shooting today and I must say it's rather chilly for halfway through May. At least it's not raining though. For now at least. I didn't spend a lot of time out there but I got a few good shots. They all turned out a bit soft but I found a couple I like. Including today's view. Here we see Mama having a snack. She's probably extra hungry caring for her young ones.

Sometimes you see interesting things in strange places. I guess that's what makes them interesting. While at a yardsale on Saturday I saw this old hitching post in someone's front yard. I'm sure it's just for decoration but it's still cool nonetheless. I even asked if it was for sale but it of course was not. Too bad. It would be a nice addition to the Cafe. Obviously the birds like it.

The shore weather today was very cloudy but we didn't see too much daytime rain. Which was nice because Kim and I had to run out to Avalon Beach to get our seasonal tags and while we were the we took a walk to the water. I tried to get this shot last year but there was always a lot of people in the way. Today however being preseason made it a lot easier.

Today I would like to introduce one of the newest editions to our Garden Cafe. I don't name our squirrels so call him (or her?) what you like but here is one of the young squirrels that has finally come down out of the tree. And he is fun to watch. He is still getting used to the world around him, and to me, but he does know where the peanuts come from. Stay tuned for more pictures to come.

Today was another good day of shooting in the Cafe. The weather was dry, it wasn't too hot and the wildlife was active. And it seems as if some of the birds are getting used to me and my camera. It used to be that they would all fly away when I came onto the scene but now they seem to stick around more. And now I more often have opportunity to get some good bird shots. Taking advantage of the opportunity I would like to share this hungry Bluejay with you.

After a rather rainy weekend we finally had some sun today. And much warmer temperatures too. After work I did a little weeding in our front garden and afterwards I grabbed my camera to snap some frames. The photo I'm sharing with you today may look familiar if you have been visiting my blog for a while except this time I'm giving you twice as much. I saw these two Dandelion puffs by our big tree and knew I had found today's subject. I didn't waste any time either because I wanted to get the shot before the wind dispersed the seeds.
